Critical Reflection on Past and Present Career Paths As I reflect on the role models in my life, two people come to mind, aside from my parents. These two individuals are my grandmother and my school counselor in high school. Both of these individuals made a huge impact on my life because they influenced my career choices to become a teacher and a school counselor. Even though at the time, I did not realize all of the work and hardships that I would have to go through before excelling in these career fields, I knew this is what I wanted to do with my life and that someway, somehow, I would eventually become both a teacher and a school counselor in my lifetime. Growing up, my parents worked a lot, so I spent a lot of time with my grandmother. I would usually spend the night at her house and she would drop me off at school in the morning before she went to work as a teacher at Uniontown Area High School. I remember waking up …show more content…
This decision was very easy for me; I chose classes focused around the career of teaching. I feel like after making that decision, taking education classes in high school, and completing my Senior Project in the field of education, it helped me to become even more enthusiastic about becoming a teacher one day. During my junior year of high school, my parents and I started searching for universities around the area that were known for their education programs. My parents and I finally agreed on a university that was not far from home, California University of Pennsylvania. When we decided that this school would be the best choice for me, it wasn’t long after that I applied and got accepted into their Early Childhood Education

ACES Career Fair Reflection I was amazed as I walked into the ACES Career Fair. I knew there would be a lot of businesses at this event, but I was not able to quantify just how many until I walked around. Since I grew up on a grain farm, I have been familiar with many of these companies surrounding me, such as John Deere, AgriGold, and Pioneer. However, before the career fair, I still researched what companies would be present on Handshake, and I formulated a plan to speak with AgriGold, DuPont Pioneer, Growmark, and Farm Business Farm Management (FBFM). Once I made this decision, I wrote down the tasks associated each internship position a company offered.…

I knew from a young age that teaching was what I was meant to do. Shadowing a teacher for a day in eight grade cemented for me that I was going to be a teacher. While the age of the student I was wanting to teach has changed as I've gotten older that drive to teach has never left. Working as an Educational Assistant at St. Louis Community College has only poured gasoline on that fire and passion for teaching. I can no longer put off pursuing my education to become a mathematics professor.…

I had stepped up since the band was going to have a "year off" and had been working for several weeks with a small group of students. I found the venue, rehearsal hall, times, and the arrangements. The students and myself had put in long hours and the day had come to perform in front of the community. As I stepped up, I saw the nervous faces that I taught and smiled, turned around and introduced the band to the community.…
