Classroom Participation Reflection

Understanding who you are is crucial in order to improve and become successful in the classroom. In this paper, I plan to analyze the many aspects of my participation and explain how it has affected my me throughout the first half of this semester. By analyzing my personality and explaining my participation during Political Science, I will reflect on some achievable solutions for my weaknesses that will help improve my personality and participation in the classroom.
When you walk into the classroom you must be fully prepared. All assignments must be completed and turned in, the weekly reading requirements must be fully read, in addition to quality notes taken over observations, questions, and any important information you obtained while reading. Not only does it give the instructor feedback on what the students are understanding but it can also promote preparation. If the students know that they should be contributing to class discussions, then they (most, not all) will start coming to class more prepared with the previously assigned materials. Along with making students more prepared, class participation helps the students get connected with certain topics that they might not have been very connected to before. Participating in class discussions can also give the students a different perspective over the materials. To be honest, making frequent comments that help move the class discussion forward seems essential for full success in the classroom. This is one of the biggest things some students struggle with, including me. Scoring myself out of 10, I would only receive a 5/10 in participating during class discussions. I fail to help make the conversations more forward, though I do make occasional comments and rarely ask any question; I still have a lot of room for improvement.
