Dear Ms. Pitts, My teacher and my parents taught me how to write when I started kindergarten. Even now I am still learning how to write properly. I’ve been told by my previous teachers that my writing is decent and my grades also reflected that. I find thesauruses helpful for improving my writing. Reading books also help me widen my vocabulary use. I took a short course of creative writing during my freshman year of high school and it was not only helpful, but fun also. I enjoy writing about myself because it’s what I know best. Writing about myself makes me reflect and analyze what it really means to be me. There’s no need to research because that information will never be found online or on books. I find writing essays

After reading your response I realized I was not completely clear on my point of view. I have notice this before and am working on being more clear when writing but also have a balance on not over explaining that can lead me to run off topic. This is not ease for me to do but when I receive feedback from people truly telling me their opinion and not just I agreeing it helps me correct my writing style. So thank you once more for truly critiquing me and taking the time to read my journal.…

My experiences with writing have been somewhat limited until I signed up for English 101. I have to admit that English was not my favorite subject in school. I never felt like I was any good at writing, and spelling is still not my strong suit. I always felt like I was better at math. My attitude towards writing was my biggest hindrance to my success.…

In the past my writing experiences have been both rewarding and disappointing. Disappointing because I seem to get a type of "stage fright" regarding the content in which I am to write about and my fear of failure. When the subject of what I am writing about is difficult and hard to find a positive outlet for, i.e. I am having a hard time getting in touch with my subject, the process of writing a research paper or summaries or any kind of extensive assignment becomes laborious and then procrastination starts to creep in. Despite how much I plan to take better care of my limited time I still manage to wait too long to start the project and then I am extremely stressed because I waited too long to start it.…

Style Analysis The style of this writing is very important because it is going to set the tone for the piece of writing, if it's going to be a serious piece of writing, a goofy piece of writing, or a informative piece of writing. The style of this piece of writing makes it seem as if the speaker was referring to the past memories that she has in her mind and then showing how those events has affected her. The diction of this writer is very interesting because it is as if she was talking to a companion of hers. This piece of writings style makes it seem as if you were there as the events as they unfolded.…

A very vivid memory I have is writing my advocacy paper, during junior year of high school. I spent countless hours working on it. My rough draft wasn't very strong , so I had put a lot of extra work into it. My topic was how the high school start time should be pushed to a later time because of lack of sleep by high schoolers. It was a very intruiging topic because I always felt I didn't get much sleep as I should, throughout high school.…

Prior to this semester, I did not feel comfortable writing. I found myself nervous as I became aware of the assignments and criteria for English 2010. Though I know it is not wise, I stacked my schedule with many literacy classes. Most of the courses require written papers throughout the semester. However, English 2010 has developed my writing style and approach in a stage where I feel somewhat comfortable writing.…

    Describe My Writing

I would describe my writing to be bland and at times melancholy. The majority of writing i've ever produced has been solely education based material such as research papers, etc .I found to be that writing was never a passion i developed. Angry letters, and sad and simple poems are all i have attempted to do on my own and even then i wouldn't consider myself to be an award winning author. I do try my best to use above average vocabulary just to sound formal and professional because i think that's an essential quality one needs to have when it comes to writing something for school, and other things that may come along from the outside world, but other than that, i don't usually try as hard for things like this. Of course none of this signifies…

To analyze my writing and compare and contrast effectively I chose three texts that are all written with a persuasive intent. The three texts that I will be using for my analysis include a letter to my oldest sister, a quote that I re-wrote to convince myself to live life more fully and an e-mail to a client, for a company in which I hold employment . In this paper, I will analyze how my writing changed in terms of formality depending on who my audience was; while I still had the intent of persuading the reader accomplish a task. I will also analyze the way my voice changed though the separate texts and how I adapted to my audience. The letter to my sister was written out of frustration as she had left home to stay with her disagreeable…

This class has been very difficult for me, but I have benefited a ton from taking it. Overall I think that a strength of mine when writing was that I had background knowledge on all of my topics. Some of my weaknesses were that I would be too wordy at times and my grammar was not always the best. It was difficult for me to write lengthy papers since I would run out of things to talk about. My favorite essay was the description essay because I enjoyed getting to go that in depth with details.…

I feel that writing is a good subject to be familiar and practicing in frequently, it is a necessary tool to communicate properly. Although, if I were to be truthful I’d have to say that I am not the biggest fan of it due to the fact that it bores me and I have trouble figuring out what to say. So I find it hard to enjoy writing because most of the time I am just struggling to concentrate because I don’t have much more to say about a topic. Recently, since I have not been in school for a while, I have found myself forgetting rules to the English language in my everyday speech so I find it to be useful. This has influenced how I feel about writing because the more I write, the more easily I can remember to use these rules in my daily…

Critical reflection Reflecting back on what I have learnt about myself as a writer is that it is okay to be aware of your weaknesses and using the necessary tools to support and strengthen them. As a writer it is good to step outside of your comfort zone and experiment with new genres. Let your writing take you on an emotional journey, and let your emotions lead your writing into a new journey. As a writer you need to expand your vocabulary and use powerful descriptive words to really create a mental image for your readers. I have learnt to understand the importance of sentence structure, drafting, and proof reading and not over using commas creating sentences that are too long.…

During high school, I have learned and improve my writing each year. I was able to apply everything I learn in my writing, in each assignment I was able to notice a growth not only in my writing but also the way I elaborate my ideas. Throughout high school I was able to write different types of assignments that show my improvement and progress in my writing. When I started high school, I did not have a lot of knowledge about how to improve my writing. One of the writing assignments I had to make during freshman year was a creative essay.…

Growing up writing was always an important aspect of my childhood. I began to write thoroughly during my first grade school year, and I believe that having a teacher for a mom helped instill those skills in me at a young age. My brother and I were encouraged to write about everything at home. I kept a journal which summarized every book that I read, and I had a travel journal for every trip that we went on as a family.…
