Reflective Essay On Learning Process

The aim of this assignment is to evaluate and reflect on my overall learning process, meaning providing a final overview of my learning experience from the first to the final academic year. This will include an evaluation of significant events, which have happened during the academic year, which has influenced studying both positively and negatively. Furthermore, I will provide a judgment on the value of the reflective essays from a personal and professional perspective, and a statement of intent on how this reflective learning process could be sustained in the future. Therefore, I will use Gibbs (1988) reflective cycle, comprising six stages of reflection, and commonly used in health, social, business and teaching professions (Ghaye & Lillyman, 2006). The cycle goes from the description, the feeling, the evaluation, the analysis, the conclusion and the action plan. The rational behind the above choice is that through the process, I will be enabled to structure my taught. Although I will avoid separating them using the cycle’s headings, I will rather let it flow from one stage to another, in a comprehensible manner.

Having reflected on that, I could also argue that my previous work experience was experience and not knowledge grounded. In other words, after gaining theoretical insight of what underpins good practice during my three years studies, I have been enabled to reflect in action, and to be more accountable for my actions and decision in my future practice.
