Reflection On My Journey To Pinnacle High School

Improved Essays
I will be going to Pinnacle High school next year, even though I live in the Horizon High School area. I believe I should be registered for the following math class next year, Honors Geometry. In my eyes, I feel this is the best choice for me because I have earned all of the necessary requirements. So far this year I have maintained a 4.0 G.P.A in all of my classes including Algebra. I also have successfully gotten an 86.20% which passes the 80% needed to pass the final. Now with the grades that I have I just need to mimic what I did this past semester to fulfill all the requirements to successfully get into Honors Geometry. I can assure you that this semester I will try even harder so that I can prove that I belong in Honors Geometry. To

    1. How will you fit The Prospect into your busy high school schedule? When will you do your assignments, and how will you complete your TP work on a particularly busy week? I'd like to say that I'm naturally adaptive to time-crunch situations. In junior year, I took on two internships that both had scheduled meetings, work agendas, and time-consuming projects.…

When I was in the Jr.High at Jimtown I went through many things that affected my perspective on the world and the people in it. I had just made a new group of friends considering that I was transferring into the Jr.High from the Intermediate school and I was trying to find my place or as said where I belonged in the world ,well at least that was what I was thinking that i was doing. With those friends I had made in the new school, I made many poor decisions, sadly more than the average teenager. I was surrounded by what I thought were good people.…

In my freshman year of high school, I was placed into only one honors class, despite a strong academic record from junior high. Given my love of learning and excellence, I was exceedingly disappointed. Therefore, with the same resolution that I applied to my sports ambitions, I committed to my class time and homework. I met with my teachers when I had questions and tackled the material with energy and intensity. My efforts paid off!…

“You must get an education. You must go to school, and you must learn to protect yourself. And you must learn to protect yourself with the pen, and not the gun”(Josephine Baker). Growing up in Southwest Philadelphia and Upper Darby, I have seen a lot of my peers turn their backs on education due to the hardships of their urban school environment. Due to the poor education system and their circumstances, they decided to head towards street life such as selling drugs and gun violence.…

The semester before my freshman year I applied to an early college high school; I knew that I was going to have more work than if I had went to the traditional high school, but I knew I could do it. At first I was doing well, but as time went on the work became more challenging and frequent eventually my grades fell and took my pride with it. I wanted to transfer to the traditional high school in my neighborhood, but changed my mind after a talk with one of my professors. She helped me to recognize that if I quit not only would I be throwing away the work that I did do, but I’d also be preventing myself from seeing what work I could do. I took that seed of information and turned it into a tree of motivation.…

When I arrived at Brooklyn Technical High School, I experienced a major culture shock. In middle school, I was surrounded by kids who looked and spoke like me, who came from countries like the Dominican Republic, Mexico, and Honduras. I could speak my strange mixture of both English and Spanish without worrying that someone wouldn’t understand me. At Brooklyn Tech, however, I study alongside students from all over the world. Now, I have friends from Bangladesh, Korea, and Poland.…

It was in early June of 2006, a pleasant, exciting Saturday evening. One hundred of us sit anxiously, one after the other, in cold metal chairs in the cafeteria of my elementary school. We wore purple silky gowns. We wait nervously for our names. Once all our names are called, we wait patiently for what happens next, and look for our parents faces, we had just heard that we were the 2006 graduating kindergarten class at Elgin Elementary.…

I would like to be a part of the Honors Program at Jackson State Community College because I think it will be a great learning experience. Additionally, it will help me with scholarships from other colleges when I transfer my credits. I am a high school student, so I think that this would be enlightening for me and help my application to other colleges to get noticed. I hope to gain further knowledge with the Honors Program and make new bonds with other committed students—and teachers, too. I can contribute to the Honors Program because I always want to do well (sometimes I’m a perfectionist).…

The end of the day comes whether you have gotten up to do something productive or if you have simply remained inanimate while time moves around you. I have found that the present slips away while you are worrying about the future. We are constantly telling ourselves that if we just get through this, then everything after will be better. We forget to appreciate the moment while constantly reaching for a hypothetically more fulfilling life. Once we graduate high school, or get through a challenging class, or finish a workout, everything after will get easier.…
