Physical wellness is the complete physical condition and functioning of the body. It can be reflected in the efficiency and ability a person can execute their day to day activities. Physical wellness can encompass how much sleep you’re getting, sunscreen use, responsible use of alcohol and drugs, and much more. Some ways you can be strong in this dimension is to exercise regularly for at least thirty minutes, drink plenty of water every day, and going to the doctor when ill or just for regular checkups. Some ways you can fall short in this dimension is to eat fast food every day, go to tanning beds, and not getting enough/getting too much sleep. I would definitely consider the community I grew up in to have a large influence on the health decisions I make today. Throughout my life my family has always strived to make healthy choices in various aspects in their health. However, there has always been an emphasis of attentiveness on physical wellness. I’d say the person who has impacted my health the most would be my mother. My mother was recently diagnosed with Celiac disease and that has had a major impact on not only her, but our entire family. She has definitely made us all be more aware of what food we are putting into our bodies, as well as how our bodies react to the food we are consuming. I do not consider myself to be a particularly religious person. However, I do believe in the necessity of having values and principles. I would say my family influenced this dimension of my wellness in a somewhat contradictory way. I say this because many of my beliefs are in opposition to what my family believes in. Dealing with that has taught me not to conform to what other people think is right just because of your relationship with them. My mother is probably the person who had the most impact on my spiritual wellness. She is a religious person, whereas I am not. I think that being brought to church as a kid allowed me to learn about what many people do believe in.
