I now realize that being a high school teacher is not easy to teach. High school teacher need to break a wall with each students to make them fell confortable. I really liked the connection she had with students and the way she explained everything with details. I loved how each day at the beginning of class the students were assigned to use the dictionary, this made them feel more confident about using it. One activity I really enjoyed was the essay because while they were learning the steps I was enjoying the reading. They were assigned to write an essay on “What’s makes an effective teacher?” Although one class had a lot of trouble brainstorming their introduction, the teacher came up with the activity to only spend five minutes and then move to their first paragraph and so on. They worked much better and got most of their work done. Something that I learn from this really great teacher is to teach with a theme. For example using different animals around the word, read and research background information about them to connect points and learn at the same time. Another great idea is to hang a picture on the wall after the activity is done to make students remember each time they look at

Complications at Barton Community College There are many problems at Barton Community College. Government officials and the president of Barton Community College can help solve some of the problems by attempting to make sure college students graduate so there are no longer low completion rates, shutting down remedial classes because this is a college and students should no longer be taking high school level classes, wi-fi access, and adding more work hours for student employees. Government officials and the president of Barton can help more students graduate by making sure students stay focused, explaining to students what requirements, they must meet in order to graduate, and giving students strategies and support to improve their academic…

The halls of Westlake High School are filled with several amazing teachers. Ranging from the enthusiastic English teachers to the down-to-earth Chemistry teachers, this high school has a unique and eccentric staff. Yet out of all the teachers that fill the school grounds, only two teachers have earned the title of being my favorites. Those two teachers are my junior year Art History teacher Ms Darrow and my senior year European History teacher Ms Cluck. Both being history teachers, they shined a light on a school subject that many tend to dismiss the importance of.…

Writing Sample Without a doubt in my mind the best class I have taken in the past two years of my academia was my high school Spanish class. I developed a very good relationship with my instructor Sr. K, that was probably the biggest reason it was my favorite class; However, the way his class was stuctured and how he taught contributed it to being my favorite class in the last two years. We would always start the day with a class plan so everyone would know what was going to take place in class and the next. Sr. k was very detailed in lessons…

Another teaching lesson I found was how Little would use the break in between the semesters to go over what they had studied in the past few months. This is a very good teaching method because sometimes some students might need to refresh their mind on what they previously learned especially since students learn so much in just one semester. 2) Olivia was a very hard working student and was attached to school because she saw it like a refuge from her own home. At home she would get constant beatings from her mother until she finally got tired of it and left. The only motivation she really had were the complements she would receive from her teachers.…

“I want you to come back with a diploma in your hands”, were the words of my 8th grade science teacher. The class was very boring and ordinary compared to the other classes in my middle school. My teacher, Mr. Febris, was the one who taught the science class for 5th period, but boy was I always the first one out the door when the bell rang. There were times when I would tap my pencil continuously like Britney Spears did in her “Hit Me Baby One More Time” music video.…

We all had plenty of teachers in our education that were unpleasant or mind-numbing, but once in a while we get a tremendous teacher who ends up being our favorite teacher. For me, that teacher was Ms. Simpson, she was my 9th grade biology teacher. I have never been too fond of science’s classes and that reflected in my past academics, but Ms. Simpson made biology class a wonderful time. Ms. Simpson’s 9th grade biology class is the reason I want to be a teacher and the reason I am taking this class. A quote from Aristotle states “Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all” (Aristotle).…

All teacher leaders have a set of skills and dispositions that they feel are important to do their job. The expertise and dispositions that one teacher has may not be the same as another colleague. Similarly, teachers may have differences of opinions on which ones are the most important. The bottom line, teacher leaders, possess a set of skills and dispositions that enable them to do their job and make a difference in the classroom and the school. When I think of my teacher leader skills and dispositions, my skills in order are collaboration skills, planning skills, facilitation skills, and evaluation skills along with my dispositions that are optimism and enthusiasm, commitment to student learning, confidence, and willingness to take risks.…

One part of the Student/Teacher Observation form that I feel the teacher excelled was in the area of academic language and classroom discourse. The teacher began her lessons reviewing previous content, integrating vocabulary and academic language. She doesn’t just expect them to know and understand the vocabulary although they have already been exposed to it. In the beginning of the lesson when she uses the vocabulary she also reaffirms what it means in terms the third graders would understand. After she has incorporated the meanings and context through class discourse, she then uses the proper vocabulary and expects it to be used.…

Weeks three and four dealt mainly on peers and their effects. We all know that a child is introduced to all kinds of bad habits through their friends and because of this many parents even don't allow their kids to have friendship with their classmates. So having all this in mind the question comes to the teacher that how he/she will take the steps to lesson the negative effects and replace them with maximum positive impact?…

For example, when I was struggling in one of my classes my teacher came up to me and asked what was going on and what they could do to help me pass the class. Ultimately I ended up passing the class with a B because the teacher was being proactive and saw before that I needed help. This also ties into encouraging and paying more attention to the students. Giving hope to the students and saying you can do it and giving them confidence can go a long way for some people. Also teachers can make learning relevant.…

This semester, I have learned plenty of concepts and material that have shaped my teaching methods. Our class has helped to develop a strong curriculum, but also, to understand the needs and reality of every student. Also, the lectures, reading, guest professors and our visits to DCP have helped to understand why I want to be a teacher. I have learned and realized that as a future teacher, I am not going to be able to take care or help every single student, but I will do my best to assist them as much as I can. For instance, Professor Julia Gonzalez mentioned that in the first couple of years, teachers take too much responsibility and as a result, they burn out in less than four years.…
