Reflection On Learning Experience

Internship is as much of a learning experience as it is the first real taste of being a teacher. The theories and mock-lesson plans learned and created at the college level are truly put to the test when facing twenty to twenty-five real students within the classroom. For me, nerves have never really been an issue, stuttering or rambling within the classroom has not been a problem either. Instead, planning and sticking to the plan has been the main area of focus. The first lesson I taught was during the last week of August, when both the classroom and the students were still very new to me. I wanted the first lesson I ever taught to be one where I truly had nothing but my plan to rely on. Student names were still unfamiliar, and the dynamic …show more content…
The Kahoot game focused on the differences between the Federalist and Anti-federalist, and the various amendments that make up the Bill of Rights. While some confusion did exist for the amendments between five and eight, the majority of the class did very well with the game. Additionally, as my supervising teacher pointed out, and something I have seen throughout my internship, the Bill of Rights has come into play well beyond my lesson. Meaning, that the content covered during my lesson has continued to be reviewed. The four part of my lesson entailed a quick review of question missed during the Kahoot, followed by a discussion of what was learned, though, only one of the three Government classes had enough time at the end of the game to take part in this part of the lesson. Even still, after the first class did not have enough time to reach part four of the lesson plan, I made an adjustment to the lesson. During the Kahoot game, when students missed a question I ensured I explained why the answer(s) selected were incorrect, this way I could clear up any confusion before moving onto the next question. In the end, I was happy with this adjustment, though I still believe if I had waited until I was more familiar with the students before doing the lesson that I may have been able to better plan for the correct allotment of instruction

To complete the simulation, I decided to go home. This was to avoid the need to travel as well as to be in an environment where no one was informed about the assignment. As I drove home, I created my story of how I would explain my new condition to my parent. Considering I had work during the first half of the day, my story became, “I lifted a heavy box of files at work from a high shelf without positioning my body correctly. As I tried to take the box down from the shelf, I lost control which resulted in my injury.”…

2.) I turned 20 only a few weeks ago which means I am only beginning early adulthood, placing me right in the beginning of what Erikson believed to be the sixth stage of psychosocial development and Piaget’s final stage of Cognitive development, which he called the “Formal Operational” stage. After watching the two videos pertaining to my period of life I realized and learned that this stage is also full of questioning and experimenting to find yourself, much like the previous “teen” stage was except now we approach it in much more mature ways. I learned that it is a period that doesn’t have to be rushed as many people make it seem, “go to college, get married, get a career, have children, and work until you can’t anymore.” It made me feel…

Every day people fall into their own norms. Throughout my first couple years of high school, I fell into my norm. I diligently attended classes, worked on assignments, and partook in extracurriculars. I remember being content with this schedule; I believed the information I learned in the classroom was all I needed to benefit my educational development. However, at the start of my junior year, I decided to challenge my norm and enroll in some college courses at a nearby community college.…

Benjamin Franklin said “Tell me and I will forget, teach me and I will remember, involve me and I will learn.” While this is a cliche quote, it inspired me when I became an educator six (6) years ago. As a Career Technical educator, I have a used this statement as motivation for my students and myself. I understand that I learn from “doing”, therefore, my goal as an educator was to constantly involve students in the lessons by allowing them to make decisions on how lessons were taught and activities used to assess learning.…

Reflection About Classroom Teaching Experience Being an educator is a challenge and a new learning experience each time. As an educator, I am entrusted with the responsibility of shaping the way students think and feel in the classroom. I have always wanted to be an educator and share my experiences with the new generation of nurses. When I was assigned to work with professor Lynette Rayman to do my classroom teaching experience, I was thrilled because the topic I chose was chronic kidney disease which also happens to be my area of expertise. I had to incorporate my previous learning experiences to make my presentation lively.…

My personal learning lens is very much influenced by the constructivism theory of learning, in particular Jerome Bruner’s theory. He posits that learners construct new ideas or concepts based upon existing knowledge. When I reflect on this semester and my practicum experience, the first thing that comes to my mind is motivation and drive. This is the first time I have actually felt comfortable enough to want to be in the classroom all day, everyday. After this practicum experience, I bring a new gift with me and that is confidence. I feel at easy in front of a group of students and truly feel that if my CT made me get up and help her teach, I could figure it out.…
