With InTASC Standard 1, I have included a Brain Teaching Target that details different ways to involve students in learning. When I completed the BTT last year, I worked diligently to include strategies included in my BTT Unit Plan. TASC Standard 1 requires students to understand how learners grown and develop. Last year, my classroom was poorly developed and it did not allow for a lot of collaborative work. The student work wall was rarely updated and students found it difficult to take my class seriously. At the end of the year, I was told very directly that my classroom did not seem like a place to learn. During the summer I reflected and realized that the environment was just as important as the content being taught in the classroom. The attached video provides a short tour that includes the Student Work Wall that is updated bi-weekly, as well as the inspirational "Be" wall that encourages students to be themselves. I 've also included the "Community Agreements" and "Corrective Actions." Both documents detail how our classroom is run on a daily basis.
