I Am Lucky Research Paper

“I am lucky” is an understatement to describe my life. There are no words to describe how lucky I am to have the life I do. Although everyone is lucky to be living, I feel as though I am just a little luckier. There are people living on the streets without comfort of a home or a loving family. I am blessed to have both of those things, and even more. The purpose of this reflection is not to brag about how lucky I am to have the life I do, the purpose is to gain personal recognition of all that I have compared to others that are less fortunate. I was not ungrateful before the poverty project, I still understood that I am lucky to have what I do. However, the poverty project gave me a better understand of how to appreciate the basic necessities that I have. I never valued my clothes because I have never had these things taken away from me, and I do not understand how to live without them. However, now I finally realize how important these things are to me, since I am unable to live without them. The poverty project does not come close to scratching to surface of what poverty feels like, however, I feel as though I was able to grasp a small understanding of the difficulties faced while living in poverty. During the project, my teammates and I encountered many issues. Attempting to outline a person’s life is a lot harder than it may seem. The daunting task of finding a job, house, and planning food and clothes for a girl and her family did not worry me at first. However, I never understood the precautionary measures you need to take while looking for basic necessities. My group and I constantly made sure that we were in budget, and would never make a major decision without consulting our budget spreadsheet. I rarely
