Hi Rupinder, I really enjoyed your post and the strategies you suggested. I especially liked the breakdown of the different patient types that we will encounter. From the reading your post and Lalaine’s response to this discussion, I realized how flexible and adaptively we have to be as health care providers. We never know who enters our exam room that day and what may be going on in their personal life. Even with the same patient, each encounter may vary.…

Huynh interacted with his patients at the facility and realized that I wanted to treat my future patients in the same way. One patient in particular stood out to me: he was a middle-aged man in the end stages of liver failure. More than just discussing the efficacy of his medications, Dr. Huynh took to the time to further his relationship with his patient by discussing his psychological well-being. Role Play Reflection Before doing the video, I became somewhat anxious at the thought of being on camera; knowing that I was going to be evaluated did not help my anxiety at all. After all, I am an introvert; even at that I love listening to people talk about their life’s experiences, and love to help them resolve their issues whenever possible. I am also aware that I am a social work student, and that my…

My first clinical experience was at St. Vincent hospital on a geriatric unit, when I was a second year nursing student. During my time there, nurses often approached me to provide small learning experiences and teach students how to be efficient. When a nurse on the unit asked for help with a bed bath for a patient with whom I was not familiar, I agreed. I wanted to get as much experience as I could. The nurse led me to the patient 's room right away.…
