Reflection Assignment 2 Discussion (Group Blog)
I chose one of the very first assignments we did in this class because I thought that this first assignment was great learning experience because I thought that as the first assignment being a group discussion, it just brought everyone together and let everyone get to know each other just a little bit more. I was nervous at first, because I am not a social person’ however, after this assignment, I thought that it brought me closer to some of my peers. The reflection assignment talked about using deception in research, and if it was a bad thing to do or not. We wrote a reflection, and the people in or group had to comment and review our post. Towards the end of the assignment, everyone in our group participated, and I now wish that throughout the semester, we had more group assignments.

Some tools that I have gained with respect to a particular task, process, responsibility, or concept as a result of my direct experiences in the class would be when I watch my siblings while my parents are away. I now have a better understanding as to why they act the way they do, and how to respond to their actions. Whenever my brother doesn’t get his way, he throws a big tantrum, I now know to respond with a calming but direct voice. When I make lunch for my siblings, they respond to my actions by cleaning the house. I noticed that before taking this class, my responsibility and actions were different compared to now. By participating in class, it helps me be aware of the processes I go through to take care of my siblings. Throughout another time, I experienced an event that made me realize the growth and development that I have gone through, taking this course. When my dog was extremely sick, I experienced resilience and coped with the fact of death. I realized that everything comes and goes; it’s just a process of

The presentations for Unit 0 were focused on introducing yourself to thee class. Each student’s presentation I watched covered all the topics of background, occupation, education, interests, and course goals. I chose each presentation strategically to learn more about each student because they were not in my HSEM class last semester. I think having “raise my virtual child” helped me understand the lectures. When I am interacting with my child, I don't necessarily think of the repercussions my interactions have on him: however working with “my virtual child” allowed me to realize my actions have consequences. Working on the assignments on this class created a new perspective towards my own child. It helped me understand more on what he is actually going through and recognize his abilities and restrictions. I started being more involved in his homework, and allowing his to explain himself more.…

I recently attended a group observation at Project Point of Light in Shippenville, Pennsylvania. The overall experience was a positive one. It was very interesting to talk to the members and hear their sides of the story. They truly are just human beings and I believe that meeting with them and having an opportunity to talk to them has somewhat changed my view of sex offenders overall. Though I am still confused by their behaviors, which is somewhat difficult to overcome, but I am more understanding of who they are because they are only human and they know they have made a mistake.…

I have never put much thought into stress, but as time went on I realized how stress genuinely decide our future. There were various points I was interested in, but there are three main points I personally found intriguing: stress can sometimes be manipulated to a greater extent, the amount of stress varies depending on what rank you are associated with in a society, and also how stress can extensively affect a person’s health. Stress can sometimes be manipulated to a greater extent.…

An exercise in class allowed me to understand my own reasoning for helping others as well as what may be my own selfish reasons for seeking this profession. For example, at one point in the exercise, I broke ground into my own self-assessment and found insight that I was partially seeking the profession for money and for my savior complex. I felt that this observation of myself showed that I was overall, functioning normally with both healthy and minimal unhealthy motivations. Another concern that came across my mind is when I have a…

In every group, structured or not, the group process has many effects on the overall group. This paper will look at the group processes of our cohort, the interactions between subgroups, and the way that it has affected the overall distance learning cohort. It will look at themes which have played out during our most recent trip to campus, namely subgroups formed, as well as the difference in anxiety levels between the foundation and concentration groups and the behaviors that were demonstrated. Next it will identify and discuss instances of here-and-now moments within the groups and consider the process commentary that we saw emerge and reflect on possible meanings for it. Finally it will depict how the groups illustrated the concepts of…

Goal I The first goal of the program was to “Apply major concepts, theoretical perspectives, empirical findings, and historical trends in psychology to prepare for graduate study or careers in which psychological training is relevant”(). Two classes met this goal, Introduction to Psychology (PSY 111) taken at Anne Arundel Community College, and Introduction to Counseling Psychology (PSYC 432) taken at the University of Maryland University College. Introduction to Psychology was the first psychology course I took many years ago. It was the class I took because I had an empty slot on my schedule.…

When I first began this class I thought that this would be just another introductory class that is required to orient you to the expectations of the particular college. Now, after completing this class, I know that this is not the case. Personal Dimensions of Learning has been a great help, not only to my school work, but also in my daily life. Before taking this class, I thought that learning, and completing daily tasks, were mostly memorizing the order of the way things are supposed to be done and just completing the task. I never liked this strategy, but it always seemed to be the most convenient way to get things done at school, home, and work.…

I am really glad we got to plan for and execute this lesson before we actually teach a lesson in our classroom with the students. I not only was able to learn what went well and what I could work on but I also was able to learn from my peers and things that went well and what could be changed in their lesson. It was less pressure to do them with our classmates first than it will be to teach it in a class full of 4th and 5th grade students. For my lesson, I choose to do the topic of immigration because that is what they are going to be learning about next in social studies. This is the topic I did for my text set in this class.…
