Reflection On Galloping Grace Youth Ranch

Decent Essays
I showed leadership when I volunteered for Galloping Grace Youth Ranch. My job was to teach the kids that came through about the livestock and how they eat and why they eat what they eat. I was able to get hands on with them by letting them participate in feeding the animals all the fruit and vegetables. This leadership has taught me that I am actually exceptionally good at leading groups; it makes me feel like I am doing something important and essential to life. I have learned plenty of skills from leading at Galloping Grace Youth Ranch, I have learned that I will work very hard for what I believe in and make sure people know about it. As a leader I've learned to allow change and how to manage it. It has helped me take a positive outlook

I want to be a Link Crew Leader because I would love to be able to mentor freshman as my previous Link Crew Leaders did to me. I also feel that becoming a Link Crew Leader would not only allow me to help shape freshman to become better people but to help me become a better person myself. I have been both a volunteer at a summer program for first and second graders and an assistant coach for the special needs program at Alta Loma Little League. At the summer program I was tasked with teaching 3 classes of first graders to type and code. This leadership position not only taught me how to actively communicate with people who learn in different ways, but also taught me to become a stronger leader.…

A leadership role I took on at school was Link Crew. In Link Crew I got to work with the upcoming freshman these past two years. One of my jobs was during freshman orientation when I taught the freshman the basic survival guide to high school. One moment that stands out to me most is when I helped a freshman overcome his fear of not being good enough for high school. He felt that he was not going to fit in because he was academically challenged.…

My most significant leadership experience would be when I was in the Girls Varsity Tennis Team. I had been in the tennis team during my highschool years, for 2 years. During that time I learned a lot about being a leader, such as what it means to lead others, and what qualities a leader should have. When I first started playing tennis I started at the position on 2nd doubles, to me I took it as that I was not good enough to play against an opponent by myself on the court. Which was entirely true, because when I began playing I was not any good whatsoever.…

Essay #1 Beta Club Jazmin Rodriguez Leadership is an important quality to have in everyday life, and is necessary in many activities. While being a volunteer at Safety Town for Aurora Schools, the other volunteers and I were given two or three kids to watch. We helped the kids with activities, such as crafts and reading stories. Showing leadership is important so that the kids behave and listen to you. We had to make sure we left for each activity on time, and that can be difficult when you have two pre-kindergarteners with you.…

From the start of my four year commitment to football and marching band I saw leadership all around me. My first summer of football my freshman year the seniors were prime examples of leadership. They were right there to correct form on our lifts, blocks, and set the overall example of what it meant to be a Mead football player. Later that summer I threw in marching band camp to my agenda. The drum major, my sister, lead the band with kept the entire band in order, and worked with us until our sets were flawless.…

Through my experience as an assistant coach of my school's kindergarten-6th grade cross country team, I was able to truly learn what it was like to be a leader. As with most groups of small children, there are always a few who don't want to follow directions. I had to be able to control the situation professionally and quickly, so the others didn't follow the bad example. I had to lead by example to achieve the best results. This experience allowed me to learn my leading style and to develop myself as a more well-rounded person.…

My leadership experience began when my supervisor and his colleagues had an important meeting to attend and had no one sitting in on the office for intake office hours, so he asked me and another intern, Isaiah, to sit in from 9 AM-3PM. My supervisor taught us the main component of this position in 10 minutes. At first, I was nervous because I was new to the agency and it was my first time performing front desk duties. But after a couple of clients I began to get more comfortable and confident with the process because I had performed similar duties when I was in my cubicle. At this moment I felt like I was a leader because I was put in a position where I had minimum training, but still could take control of the office duties, and according to my supervisor, my performance level was beyond expectations.…

During my time in high school I tried hard to be a leader in both the classroom and the locker room but it was always shown more throughout my participation in athletics. I always volunteered for helping out in tournaments held at our school or in grade 12 my leadership was noticed and I was picked to be a “Trojan in Black”. This was a small hand picked group of senior students that were chosen to represent the school for newcomers coming into our high school. We were required to host BBQ’s for Grade 9 orientations and show new students where everything was in the school.
