Because of the upcoming science STTAR, my observation of Ms. de la Fuente’s fifth grade class this week was a little different than usual. The teachers switched classes from lunch until one thirty to better prepare the students for the test. In this way, they would learn the information through different teaching styles. This week’s task was about advice on the teaching profession. Some good advice was to stay organized and keep the students engaged.…

English 219 was my first college level English course, and through attending and completing all of the assignments I have learned many skills that I believe will greatly help me in my future courses in college. Next semester I am enrolled in English 220, and after having taken this course I feel substantially better about continuing on with English courses at a college level. It has helped me to become more confident in my writing skills and provided me with an excellent basis for me to continue on with next semester, and throughout the rest of my schooling experience. Throughout this class I have learned many things, but perhaps the most important is the steps to writing an essay, and the planning options.…

Strong classroom management skills make a class run smoothly. One way I plan to work on classroom management is to develop my own plan before I begin my clinical experience. It is best for me to be over-prepared with procedures to implement before I begin my clinical experience. Another important part of classroom management is to reflect on the plans I have implemented. If the plan does not work, I need to find a new plan that will work.…

I really enjoyed the time I spent in Mrs. Flinn’s fourth grade classroom over Spring Break. I was able to observe for a total of four hours between Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning. During my time with the fourth graders, I took a closer look at the solid behavior classroom supports being used. Along with these supports, I was extremely impressed by the way Mrs. Flinn handled classroom management. Even though I observed during a very exciting week, she had great control over her students.…
