Reflection On Exploring My Strengths

Improved Essays
The first thing I have learned through Exploring Your Strengths class is that my strengths are: belief, restorative, discipline, developer, and relator. My belief strength gives me core values that are unchanging, and has helped define a purpose for my life, and has helped me see what is truly important in my life. If it was not for my belief strength, it would not have been easy to decide a major. I chose pre-nursing because I knew my core values, and that nursing is what I am called to do. Restorative gives me the ability to solve problems and find a solution. I am able to handle problems that arise well and not get discouraged too quickly. I used my restorative strength when it came to my math credit that did not transfer automatically. It took about five weeks into the school year and once it did transfer, I had …show more content…
It is also the main reason why I love to keep an agenda and be organized. I use discipline constantly when it comes to schoolwork and academics. I am able to maintain good grades and to stay motivated through applying my discipline strength. My developer strength enables me to see potential in others. I am able to tell when the best time to speak, listen, advise, and praise. This strength has helped me with talking to some of my friends who have been discouraged about school. I love it when I can help them out and am able to show how much potential they truly hold. Relator empowers me to build strong, close relationships. I am able to establish trust and get to know almost everything about the person. My friendships are based off quality not quantity. I have used this strength in every single one of my friendships and my relator strength helps me surround myself with exceptional people. My “Standout” strengths are connector and equalizer which means I am loyal, a person of great integrity, and I always deliver on what I promise. I have used these two strengths in group projects because I never want to let people down and I expect the same from

Upon completing the StrengthsFinder survey, it is determined my 5 greatest strengths are the learner, achiever, competition, strategic, and relator, all of which I expected (Clifton, Anderson, & Schreiner, 2006). While reading the text I examined the various themes of different strengths, relating closely to the 5 assigned by the survey, I am impressed by how well the explanations were written in the book, Strengths Quest Second Edition. The text in correlation with the materials provided from the StrengthsFinder survey brought forth meaning and depth into finding out exactly the type of person I am. Learning is listed as my top strength in the survey (Clifton, Anderson, & Schreiner, 2006). I believe I have used that trait extensively throughout…

I am fairly good at meeting new people, my peer students, because I believe I can be outgoing, friendly and easy to talk to. I also believe another strength was being involved within campus. I am the president of emotion, member of CAC, and mentor in Moving Forward Together. When my peer students had questions about joining clubs I could offer them my experiences in these different clubs or provide them with someone that was in a club they were interested. Another example of a strength is knowing where places are.…

For weeks, I pondered on the very essence of strength and questioned what hardships have I endured and how was I strengthened by it.…
