A situation that I found challenging was when my client would run away during therapy sessions. I would run after my client each time. My client isn’t just any runner but he is a fast one! After each therapy session I would be exhausted from constantly chasing him around inside the therapy room and in the hallways. After reading an article called “Evidence-Based Behavioral Intervention for Repetitive Behaviors in Autism” I learned about alternatives regarding my client. This article helped me understand that when my client engages in the running behavior, instead I can turn this dilemma around into other positives.
