Reflection On Taplehays Class

English 1A in professor Tapleshays class has been very interesting. My experience so far has not been what I expected it to be. My thought was that we were going to start reading right away. I didn 't expect it to be such a fun learning environment. I 've always enjoyed english. I may not understand it completely nor be great at it but it 's a fun subject. You learn something different every day. It can be a difficult language if it is not read or written properly . By observing the way you talk and express yourself I can see i 'm going to learn quite a lot of things not only from you but also from my classmates. I love the fact that you interact with your students and you joke around but yet stay on top of things. You don 't change the subject to a whole new thing. You go on with it and try to make explain your point of view. Then after …show more content…
I feel like waking up early really messes with me. I fall asleep and it feels like i 've closed my eyes for about 10 minutes. Next, thing you know BAM!! It 's time to get up. You obviously don 't care because I signed up for this class and you didn 't make me. I 'm only telling you this because it 's something I have experienced. I have also learned more than I expected to in the first 3 days. First of all, we need to clean our imagination. Something we can do to help us clear our imagination is writing for 10 minutes a day and also reading. We need to chop down our trees. The more you write the better you read ,the more the read the better you write, and the more you read and write the better you think. Secondly, I learned something I kinda already knew but didn 't fully think out. The way they educate us in this country. From K-8 it 's all technical, basic math etc. 9-12 it 's comprehension, do this and do that. This is all just to get paid minimum wage. Once you hit upper, the level of insight that becomes everything. You show you 've mastered all the skills and have learned to read between the

Throughout this semester of English 101, writing has become more of a skill than a struggle. Writing was a challenge that I dreaded when I chose to be in the course, nonetheless with time, I learned from my mistakes and was able to improve. This course made me very doubtful on whether I could be capable of even writing a paper that would provide me with a decent grade, but at the same time made me push myself in my writing technique. In the end, I can reflect that I learned from my mistakes and wrote papers that took time and dedication to accomplish. I learned from this class to be confident in my writing and make all the mistakes to receive the grade I want in the end.…

After reading over my rough and final drafts, I realized they all have two things that could use work on and it is the flow of my paragraphs and grammar. I still need to work on that but, I am happy with how far I have come as a writer. Taking this class has shown me my strengths and weakness in writing. Even though I am not very excited about writing essays in my next English class, I feel more confident than I did when I first started English 1157 because of Professor…

I had no naps that day. My overall sleepiness/alertness was 1. When I first awoke I was very sleepy, but as the day went on I felt great. On weekday two, the last day of my sleep studies. I fell asleep at 12:30am, I had an adequate amount of sleep, and I slept for 9 hours and 30 minutes.…

I fell in love with writing all over again. I won’t lie, my grammar is still not perfect but at least I have a better understanding of the rules. At first I thought it was to hold back how we wanted to write but it was to help make the paper more understanding; for it to be more polished. I really do thank my eighth grade teacher, Mrs. Bubp, for her help. Instead of struggling so much through high school writing like I did in middle school, it was actually so much easier.…

I never say look for what you could add or what audience the author to sharing to, just basic stuff. Its in college I learned to progress my writing style and reading. I actually even got a liking to English, more of writing than reading. Regardless though English isn’t my favorite subject. I’ll still have other subject and hobbies I enjoy more because that’s the way I am.…

The semester is almost over now. I took Composition and rhetoric, obviously, because it is a compulsory course, but further than that I was truly excited to see what it could offer. English has always been my passion and a language I wanted to learn to perfection. I am glad to say that this course did not disappoint; it has been a class that helped me improved my writing abilities, as much as my comprehension skills. Whenever we desire to learn a new language it can be challenging, putting our thoughts and ideas in paper is complicated and even more when you do not do it in your mother tongue.…

Throughout my sixteen weeks in English 101 I believe that my writing skills have developed in ways that I never thought they would develop. There is always room for improvement, especially with writing. Before taking this class I thought I was a good writer, but after the first few essays I realized how much I could truly improve upon. The writing topics and prompts we were given each taught me something more about writing, how to structure things, or simple writing tactics that could make my essays better. I’ve never been good with writing formal essays, but this class taught me how to be a lot less informal in my writing.…

I have learn ways to point things out differently without having to give them to people to give me feedback, that takes some time but can improve the drafts. As walking away from the essay for a few hours or a day helps settled my mind and think of better ways to write sentences or even paragraph ideas. That has made my papers better in college than high school because I never did any of that before…

This semester has been more challenging than I actually anticipated. I have always had some trouble in English, but this semester taught me skills I have never learned before. The main focus I tried to emphasize on is writing as if it was a way of conversation, letting the reader fully understand what I am actually trying to say. During class time, we worked together in small groups which actually helped me grow as a writer and understand my flaws to perfect them in any way I needed too. Included in my portfolio was my first piece of writing “Hold On to the Things You Have” which was the article analysis that I thought was the hardest then there was the research paper titled “Driving to Death” which I really enjoyed writing.…
