In the article "Did you bring the bear spray dear?” published on Nov 17th of 2008 the author, Chris Selley interviews experts on bears and bear attacks and in order to know how common are black bear attacks and how to prevent them and how to act if someone finds himself or herself face to face with a black bear. Most bear attacks occur in natural environments rather than urban spaces and in North American only a small number of those attacks are lethal. Expert on bear attacks, Stephen Herrero, says that most attacks of black bears often occur in backwoods and per year only 2 of those attacks are lethal in North America. However if people find themselves face to face with a black bear then they should analyze the situation and react depending…
Functional: (Power struggles) Dylan was making progress towards his functional goal; however currently his behavior problems have escalated since February 2016. He becomes aggressive, disruptive, non-compliant, unmotivated, isolated, engage in off-task behaviors, avoids task; which consistently show concerning levels of regression across his academic settings. He continues to have low frustration tolerance, serious work avoidance issues, and large amount of attention-seeking behavior. According to classroom observation recorded since August 2015 to current; teacher data/report and office referral, the following modification and implementation have been put in to place in order for Dylan meet his academic goals: General learning environment: Dylan receives special education to provide…
When he ever has a question, he comes to me, not the teacher. He does this because he trusts me to explain the problem in a way that he can understand. This situation allowed me to express how being intellectual is a part of being a green and a big part of me. I agree with the characteristic of being a perfectionist…
-Summarized the case study Q1 -Urjo is the most difficult situation because he just does not want to learn and has an attitude problem -Student is choosing not to do well instead of working hard and not succeeding -He is not trying which makes teaching him the curriculum very difficult -Trying to incorporate art into the curriculum work could help him put effort in -Using oral dictation then getting students to go into visual work could help Urjo -He needs more creative and expressive work. Using his schema to help him understand the course material as well as to help him be interested in the material. Taking an intelligence test as a class could also help the teacher ensure learning is more directive for all students - Urjo needs more creative…
A quote by Dr. Felipe Korzenny “Culture is a cluster of intangibles and tangible aspects of life passed down from generation to generation.” This quote is true; culture affects the way people see the world because it has been shown and taught. In addition to the argument, culture has been around since day one, and there are some pieces to show it. Some pieces that were “Everyday Use” and “An Indian Father’s Plea”. Culture has made an impression since Birth.…
Dear Mr. Lake, I have been teaching for two years and Wind-Wolf seems to be doing good in some parts of the class he just needs to work on reading. He is shy and quiet like the other Indian children in the classroom. I believe that Wind-Wolf has already been through quite an education compared with his peers in Western society.…
In today’s society we are introduced to many problems that are always put to the side and is never taken care of because people are so in denial and don’t want to face the truth. In the simpsons intro the writer uses satire( the use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people's stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues) to explore the flaws of society through his made up fictional characters. Some issues that I have come to a realization are the fact that parents in this century are not paying enough attention to their children and holding them fully responsible for their own actions. In other words children are doing whatever they please with no care whatsoever in the world because they know that there is no consequences for their actions. This also causes these children and teens to misbehave in class which leads to a distraction that takes away learning from kids whom parents actually send them to school to learn.…
Kelvin’s behaviour Throughout the year, the class team has tried its best to help Kelvin modify his challenging behaviour. He has his good days but he often doesn’t seem to listen to what the class team says to him and thus no improvement was shown. When kelvin sees a peer demonstrate inappropriate behaviour, he still tends to copy it. Like for example, he stands up and goes around the class when the children are supposed to stay seated, he hands over the copy books directly to the teacher when he is supposed to wait for a peer to collect them, he interrupts his teacher when she is delivering a lesson explanation and there were instances when he also says rude words.…
With the end of the second week, my student teaching experience at Wolford Elementary has been fulfilling since I have already performed the majority of my mentor’s duties. The week commenced with modeling by my mentor, preparing me for my unaccompanied instruction of Reading and Writing. After my instruction, my mentor and I debriefed discovering comparable items which required attention, such as, presenting frequent reinforcements and reminding the students of their reinforcement. With the constructive criticism from my mentor, it prepared me for my observation unfortunately, on the day of my observation my primary student referenced in my lesson plan was absent. The first instruction of the day is a group of three students for reading…
1. What are the inherent problems involved in juggling coursework for initial teaching preparation with full-time teaching responsibilities and life outside of school and work? (CC9S7) Unfortunately, or fortunately in some cases, the main problem with juggling other things alongside full-time teaching responsibilities, is time. The responsibility of a teacher doesn’t just fall under the times that the students are in the building, but extends almost twenty-four seven.…
Evaluate the effect on children and young people of having positive relationships during periods of transition. Give an example from your school of how this was facilitated. A ‘transition is deemed to be a change from one state or phase of life to another or a change in conditions. Transitions arise during the course of ones’ life and all children and young people face countless transitions as they move from childhood through puberty and adolescence to adulthood; they also move from immaturity to maturity. Some children and young people experience many different types of transitions such as emotional, physical, physiological and/or intellectual.…
PART A: I agree with Carol Tomlinson’s statement about curriculum being the ultimate identifier of potential. Potential is having or showing capacity to become or develop into something in the future. School curriculum is defined as the course of study observed by the school. I do believe that the curriculum has to reflect the student’s needs to be the ultimate identifier of potential. We know that all students learn differently.…
Wind-Wolf is highly educated but he is not on the same level as the other children in my class. I am still worried about your child’s education level. Taking into consideration his age, Wind-Wolf is not to be considered a “slow learner,” but he is one who needs extra help in some areas of study compared to his peers. Although Wind-Wolf is educated in areas concerning his heritage, the skills he needs to be on the same level as his classmates are not there.…

The first day I observed at Clay High School, I knew that the learning environment would be hostile. The day happened to be the end of the third quarter and reports were being sent home. This meant that my clinical teacher felt the need to have students review their grades. He printed out everyone’s gradebook records, and had the students check and review their term grades. What I didn’t expect was for him to randomly call on students and share their grades.…
