Reflection On Critical Thinking

In general , this module has taught me the skills in term of studying and thinking; which is absolutely beneficial for me throughout my life.

Many topics were discussed in class; In my opinion, the topic on critical thinking is very intriguing. It is a habit of thinking characterised by the in-depth exploration of issues, ideas, and events before accepting or formulating an opinion or conclusion on our own. This habit does not come naturally, and it takes time for individual to fully possess this ability. Judging myself, I would say I am a stubborn individual who refuse to analyse the reverse side of an issue. I am an artistic person who tends to make judgements based on emotions and ego. However, while doing my essay previously and this

The process of learning is enhanced by critical reflection, which is a process of thinking back what has been learnt, and analysing the reasons and learning lessons from what did or did not work, so that we can improve ourselves in the future. Just like this reflection is a chance for me to delve into my thoughts as well as my learning methods; and move beyond a superficial understanding of the topic. In addition, critical thinking can also be used in mathematic/finance related areas. I believe critical thinking is a crucial factor to judge whether or not one truly understand what one is doing. For instance , while learning a new mathematical concept/formula, I can do computation and explain the concepts because I learned those formulas through practice and memorisation, however if with critical thinking, I can explain the rational behind a formula, why it works , and even trace the steps in proving a formula. Not only I can solve a problem, I can also explain the the logic behind the process used to reach a solution. By truly understand something being taught in class, I can tackle the exams, but also develop my own way of thought that encourage creativity and …show more content…
It is important to work well with others simply because nothing happens in isolation. By carrying out group presentation, I can learn the good points of others that I don 't have it myself, e.g. other group mates may have a more clearer way of presenting the slides. Teamwork is important, it is a synergistic way of working, where the final work should be better than doing it individually.

During the process, we properly managed our time by coming up with milestones to avoid procrastination; personally I feel that teamwork can maximise strengths, bring out the best each group member, and achieve faster results. While we may be responsible only for doing a particular point in the presentation, other group members can lend a hand if someone falls behind or having problems. Group members can also provide an additional perspective that can resolve other’s issue quickly. As compared to doing the presentation individually, I will be left alone to figure things out for myself, increasing the time taken to complete it, and the end result may not be as good as group work

The diverse ways in which critical thinking can be applied are astonishing. One may find themselves in a group project working towards a common goal and an individual would find it immensely helpful to be able to process the ideas or statements and go through steps exploring possible problems, solutions, and meanings. In a professional environment, possessing this skill would demonstrate not only competency, but leadership. In a meeting, one may be asked what one thinks of the ideas that have been discussed and it would serve one well to be able to analytically and intellectually reflect on what has been discussed and arrive at an answer to a problem that one’s peers would comprehend. Possessing the skill of thinking critically is crucial in all parts of life; it is a skill that will be easily noticed and assist one in answering any question that…

When working with group, members must avoid conflict at all cost, because the group will lose focus and be unable to solve problems. Leadership is a necessity while working in groups, because the leader keeps the group on tract, assign the roles, and play the part of the role model. As a role model, I always give an opportunity to every member to express their mind freely, and I try to use constructive criticism with my group members. Group discussion is helpful in communication because of the skills you learn socializing with peers, which helps builds an individual’s interpersonal…

To me critical thinking is reading a text, or having a conversation, or watching something on TV and then finding out and understanding what it was trying to portray. Since taking this class I have added more ways for me to think more critically. A few things that have made my critical thinking easier is how to mark a book, reading and reflection, application of wasteland, and the 2 types of information given descriptive and prescriptive. I know that marking a book is good for critical reading but when we read the article How to Mark a Book I found I was completely wrong.…

In fact, my group members were very helpful and whenever one of us had trouble with something we would all participate in solving her problem or giving her helpful tips to solve it. By helping, supporting and motivating each other it made the project easier to solve and it helped us in achieving our work in the most effective time and ways. Here are some points I loved about the experience, firstly being a part of a group helped in developing my skills and we were able to achieve more work than in working individually. Secondly, we had more time to manage and plan. Thirdly I developed more communicating skills and team commitment and also I had more exchange of information between myself and our group members.…
