Reflection On Copper Trails

Decent Essays

She has taught me to follow my love for writing fictional narratives. But she was not the only one who inspires me until this today. There is the 8th grade team of teachers. Mr. Ashworth, Mr. Flynn, Ms. Madison, Dr. Renard, and Mr. Spoto have each helped me reach a step closer to achieving my dreams of a greater education for myself. For that I would like to say, thank you.
I have seen numerous students and teachers transfer out of Copper Trails to different schools. Many of them were friends of my own. I can say I feel their absence everyday. We may not always have the same

My first memory at North Carolina Governor’s School West is of crying next to my parents on a bench under a giant tree. It was move-in day for the five-and-a-half-week session, and I was already sure that they would be the worst weeks of my life. I was terrified; I knew no one except two students from my high school, who were rising juniors and to whom I had never spoken before. After that stressful first day, I fell asleep unsure of how I could make it on my own in a place filled with such talented, intelligent, and unfamiliar people. A week later, I knew that Governor’s School would be one of the most treasured experiences of my entire life.…

    1) What important influences led to your choice of a major in the liberal arts and sciences? Throughout the process of deciding what to pursue academically, I realized that I have a lot of varying interests. I am passionate about concepts surrounding identity, culture, place and how these interact with more concrete concepts such as science and technology. I knew I wanted to eventually pursue something which involved agriculture and also environmentalism, which are two topics that I have been interested in since I was very young.…

In 2006, I began my journey at The Valley School as a first grade student. Moving over from my previous school, which I had attended from the time I was three until I was six years old, was fairly smooth. I had friends who made the switch with me and, being the social butterfly I was, making new friends was a breeze. In the first few years as a student, I saw Valley move into three buildings.…

Teaching provides one the chance to mentor students in areas outside the scope of a classroom whether through coaching a sport or sponsoring a club. Mostly, teachers have the chance each day to make a lasting impression on someone else. 8th Grade Graduation As we sit here today, eagerly waiting to graduate, let’s ask ourselves one simple question. Where would we all have been without teachers today? It’s not just teachers though, it’s the friends we made; the experiences and knowledge that we all gained throughout elementary and middle school too. Even though we are all graduating middle school today, I think I can speak on behalf of my classmates when saying that we all learned so much already.…

1 I come from a long line of educators and administrators on both sides of my family. Various relatives of mine have taught me to understand and appreciate the importance of education. This being the case, they have inspired my decision to be a teacher, preferably an elementary school teacher. Last year, I sat in on my aunt’s third grade class at Washington Irving, an elementary school in my district that I attended for three years. After visiting the classroom a handful of times, I absolutely fell in love.…

I hate that my students will be moving on to first grade next year, because I can’t teach them in the classroom anymore. Luckily, I work at Chase Street, so I will still be able to be with my students that attend the after school program. Each of my students has individually made a lasting impression on me, not only as a teacher, but as a person and a student myself. My relationship with Ms. Evans has grown profoundly. It began as me just being her after school co-worker to me being an active part of her classes learning several times a week.…
