On my third deployment on COB Speicher, Iraq in 2012 my right ankle injury occurred on an incline while ruck marching. The following week I took a record APFT, on the final even I felt a pop and sharp pain in my right leg. After finishing the 2 mile run I was driven to the local medical center to be looked at. The medical examiner told me that it was just a high sprain and proscribed Motrin and crutches. Upon redeployment at the SRP center I was reexamined by the provider. That is when the issue of the frequent ankle sprains was brought to his attention. After multiple physical therapy visits over the next two years I was given an MRI by off post medical provided. The results of the findings were fractures in my right ankle, heel and damaged
