I share a gym that is divided by a curtains with another class, this often makes it difficult for the students to hear the whistle, to combat the confusion and the noise from the other class I instilled a classroom management technique where I blow my whistle then raise my hand. Some of the students will hear my whistle then raisin their hand, the students who do not here the whistle will see other classmates raising their hands and know it is time to stop and show me the sign that they are ready to listen. I just started this attention grabbing technique at the start of the soccer unit, so the students are still somewhat new to it.
At the start of this video segment, you can see that some of students are raising their hand and …show more content…
Before the video panned to me, I had just demonstrated to focus student 2 who is in a black T-shirt and blue shorts, how to do the rainbow. I showed him how to do the trick, then broke it down step by step. In slow motion I moved the ball from the ground then rolled the ball up to his ankle then continuing with slow motion instructed him to lift his opposite leg to kick the ball. In the video right before the student tried the trick, I reminded him to feel the ball roll yup to his ankle, then I showed him on my leg. The video showed the student try the trick with some success. After that try, the student tried it a few more times and then was …show more content…
I explained that you roll the ball up the inside of your ankle then let with the opposite leg. Then kick it up over your head. I was not successful this time, but the students got the idea. Another student needed my attention, she was at the mini game station, and she was not sure where the goal was marked on the floor. I was able to point it out and she found it and continued to play. I moved to the flashcard station next, which is shown at 0:30. I explained that they have the flash cards that have the officiating signs, I told them they should practice doing the signs and know the definition of them. 0:55 to 1:29 in the video I was out of the video, at this time I was helping group members at the shooting station calculate their score card. I blew my whistle to get the students attention to rotate. I help students get to their station and start their activity. I encourage the kids to read the task card. As I was walking around checking on the groups, the video panned off of me a few times. 4:00 I walked over to the dribbling and marking station. I encouraged this group to move through the levels at this station. at 4:45 I started working with focus student 1 who was in the green T-shirt. I had him set up to work with mother student and “mark” on the student, he did wonderfully. Then this students moved passed the the partner he was working with while
