Great post, Eric. I agree, the atrocities that Christopher Columbus inflicted on the Indians should not be celebrated. I feel that the truth needs to finally be added to the history textbooks. I think that you are completely correct in stating that a great man he was not, so we need to stop celebrating a holiday that honors and pays tribute to him. I read that in several areas of the country instead of Columbus Day they are having a celebration of Indigenous People's Day. It sounds like a step in the right direction to me.
