As a novice teacher in TED 1312, I tutored two 8th grade students at Cesar Chavez Middle School. My students and I discussed the expectations I had set to promote a healthy learning environment for all of us. By setting the rules for my students, I planned to create a safe environment for my students and me, and that would allow us to work more efficiently. Since I set the classroom rules for tutoring, my students have remained focused and active throughout our lessons together.
