There are two case managers at my workplace. I do not work with them directly, but they are there to plan patient care, improve patient's satisfaction, resolve any issues or problems with patient care and so forth. I do like your topic for this course. I was surprised at the conclusion of AHRQ's study about case management. I do not have an answer for what long-term impact on patients the case management has. I found an article about case management and patient's outcomes. The study was peformed in Asia, not in the USA. According to the article, their patient's outcomes were good; reduction of hospital readmission rate and of the length of hospitalization (Mahendran, Hendriks, Thambyrajah, Vellayan, & Maarof, 2006).
