Reflection On Becoming A Certified Nursing Assistant

Improved Essays
When I first learned about this essay, I was confused and had no idea what I was going to write about. I was originally going to write about preparing for college, thankfully in the middle of one of my classes I came up with the brilliant idea of writing about the process I went through to become a certified nursing assistant. I chose this topic because it was a big event that I had recently gone through. Even though preparing for it took about two years, I believe that I helped to set a foundation that will help me in life. Also it was a perfect representation of my learning style. It showed how memorization, visual, and real life usage of information are key things in helping me to learn well. I really enjoyed writing about my learning process.

“Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way” these are the words of Viktor Frankl that have fueled me within the last few years. After traumatically losing my leg in an accident I did not lose my positive attitude toward life or my desire to help others, I choose my own way to continue the path I was following before this tragedy struck. From the age of 18 as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to age 25 working as a Mental Health Associate (MHA) at a hospital, I chose to lead a life of service. My drive to assist others as a CNA would be the catalyst for me discovering that I wanted to be a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. It was through my work that I discovered the common ground of suffering, but also the resilience of the human spirit.…

After this came an analysis of a visual text, followed by a research paper. The narrative was the easiest to write; however, I acquired important skills for writing the other two, which were in a less familiar format. With the three essays, I learned about my own writing skills and habits concerning development and critical thinking, time management, and organization.…
