Converging Learning Course Analysis

This course was a real “eye opener” for me. Prior to taking this course, I thought Adult Learning dealt strictly with passing information on in a “black and white” manner. I really had no idea that as a teacher you would have to consider how each person learns and how important it can be for the teacher to adjust the course to adapt to the different learning styles of adult learners. I now better understand how this ultimately will improve learners’ chances of successfully completing the course or workshop they are attending.
Improving my Converging Learning Style characteristics Over the past few weeks I have taken steps towards improving my Converging Learning Style. It is hard to clearly state if I have successfully achieved the level I first thought I would potential obtain. Yes I have implemented characteristics of a Converging Learner which has been demonstrated in my group project for example when I initiated group conversations or kept the group focused to achieve our group goals. I also organized discussions to finalize the selection of our group topic. That being said I feel that to

The course material was very interesting and it had realistic deadlines. This definitely motivated me to complete assignments and to get involved with group discussions. I would state that I was successful in implementing study habits, organizing time to ensure I was not rushed through the course material, and using the virtual environment, “discussion forum” to interact with other students. All of my assignments were handed in prior to the deadline, with most of them being handed in earlier. I will absolutely continue to take online coursing to improve my education in any subject as this has been a very positive experience for me. My plan is to get a Bachelor of Education in Adult Learning. I am currently employed full time and work shift, taking courses online fits into my schedule extremely

This semester I took a class that was new to me. I knew absolutely nothing about journalism coming into MMC2100. The most valuable assignments were the AP practices. Although I was frustrated because I bought the online access to the www.apstylebook.com which ended up not having page numbers for some assignments. In the end, the constant use of AP style helped make it come more natural for some bigger projects further along in the semester.…

From the interviews that took place, there were clear testaments that adult learners learn differently and go to college from numerous reasons. These reasons are but not limited to chance of a promotion at work, a chance to complete a degree that was started elsewhere or starting college from the beginning. It could even be said that any student out of high school would benefit from general education classes that connect back to their lives. Although that is not always the case there are other ways to have the student connect with curriculum. Since opportunity of going back to college once a person has started their career job is becoming more common there is even more of a need for adult learners to feel included in classes.…

I went back to each of the four reflective journal entries submitted to date in order to see the journey through this class on adult learning. The class started out very different than my expectations and ended up being one of my favorite classes to date in my Master’s Degree program. Adult learning has many different facets and the access to adult learning is important to people of all socioeconomic levels, albeit at times for reasons that run along a continuum from basic survival in a new environment, to enhancing skills for better job opportunities, to the desire to learn about travel destinations in retirement, or simply just for the insatiable desire to learn. Unfortunately my connection was lost when I submitted this originally and I did not save a draft. So, here we go again. To me, the statement that this program requires students to take active responsibility for their own learning means that each student can attain a base education through this program. However, it does not mean that this program will teach you every aspect of what you may need to know in the future. Each student is responsible for taking this course as a guide, and expanding upon it to the best of their abilities.…

I already knew what I wanted to study before starting this course but this course made me see in depth of my career choice, it made me see every little and important detail of my career choice. I also get to see what kind of personality I have when it comes to my learning style and made me change my way of studying so that I can be successful. When I first saw my learning style preference I found out interesting fact, I always thought I was a verbal learner but it turned out that I am a visual learner and this changes a lot of things when it comes to my school life. after discovering this I stared focusing more on the visual materials like, graphs, diagrams and others that are used to summarize the main ideas of the subject and it’s actually very effective because it’s easy for me to remember pictures than words and I’ll probably continue using this method for the rest of my school…
