In 1789, President George Washington proclaimed the first national Thanksgiving observance in America, marking November 26, 1789, as "a day of public thanksgiving and prayer . . ."

Over two centuries later, Thanksgiving falls on that momentous date and we have much to be thankful for.

This holiday, I invite you to reflect on all the good in your life, even the brief moments that brought a smile to your face. We often take for granted those things and people, assuming we will have them through another year, but life and recent world events teaches us to cherish every moment. I also encourage you to tap into the spirit of giving this season. Rather it is your time, a donation to a worthy cause or an act of random
