Reflection On A Capstone

Improved Essays
A capstone is a project that all seniors at SWCTA are required to complete within a semester and a half in order to demonstrate the skills and the knowledge that they have gained during their time at SWCTA. This project varies from program to program due to the difference between the specialties in each program area. For the automotive division, our project required us to form teams to create and develop a car dealership. I teamed up with Stone Sha, Matthew Burgos, Shann Pagado, and Thomas Norsworthy to take on our final challenge before graduation.
Our group’s first objective was to decide the car franchise for our dealership. Our initial choice was Nissan with Chevrolet as our back up, but we decided to change to Audi and named the dealership

Unfortunately, our revision search led us to the discovery that the area we had intended to use for our dealership wasn’t an area we could use as the land was owned by Clark County Aviation, which our teacher advised avoiding any land owned by them, and that the area was zoned for residential meaning we couldn’t build a business there. We ended up moving our location from being on Sunset and South Rainbow to an area by Jones and the I 15. As a result of changing our parcel zoning, we had to adapt the 3D model to the new location, but thankfully Shann and Thomas were experienced enough to quickly make the edits. Stone gathered all the clips we had filmed for the training videos and edited them on Adobe Premiere during his own time out of school while the rest of the team got to work on the presentation for our capstone project. Although we made a slight error at first, setting up the presentation as if we were showcasing how our dealership would would work when it was suppose to be about the process of making the dealership, we recovered quickly and created an entire new presentation from scratch with ease as we had a timeline of our progress to work off of. The only thing left to do is to review our work and tweak any errors we may have

As I came to college, my family and I anticipated I would be following a simple mold of a conscientious student. One that is highly focused in some limited number of long term goals. Don 't get me wrong, this only meant that I had high expectations out of my college education. For some people, this path leads them to great success. But, I slowly realized my vision of success needed to have stories from different roads and bridges, than just one simple path.…

English 219 was my first college level English course, and through attending and completing all of the assignments I have learned many skills that I believe will greatly help me in my future courses in college. Next semester I am enrolled in English 220, and after having taken this course I feel substantially better about continuing on with English courses at a college level. It has helped me to become more confident in my writing skills and provided me with an excellent basis for me to continue on with next semester, and throughout the rest of my schooling experience. Throughout this class I have learned many things, but perhaps the most important is the steps to writing an essay, and the planning options.…
