Reflection Of Writing: Critical Thinking, Themes, And Ideas

Before starting college I had never written more than a three page paper. I was inexperienced when it came to writing lengthy, but still interesting papers. I still find myself to be questioning, appropriately, the content of my papers, my time management skills, and also the effectiveness of which I portray my thoughts, concepts and ideas. I have found this class to be challenging in both beneficial, and strictly frustrating ways. This class although time consuming, and difficult, has helped me grow as a writer, and given me tools such as critical thinking, review, and reflection that I will continue to use for the entirety of my college career. On every essay that was graded several comments that were consistent was “you need to be more specific in your discussions of the texts and in your explanations.” or “this essay suffers from a lack of specificity”. Breaking down my different topics, points, and reasonings has proven to be a weakness in my writing. Using detailed explanations to support or discredit arguments is the foundation of a strong essay. I tend to get lazy with my writing and not want to expand any further on the topics of my essays. During Project #1 I found the most stressful part of this assignment as gathering enough connections between the stories, myself, and Dream Catchers, and getting them down on paper. In the Project #3 Reflection I stated I want to remember to not quit when trying to find sources, and not settle for a mediocre one. The right one is out there it is all just a matter of finding it. Sometimes you just have to type in the words and phrases that you do not think will work. Rather than like in high school when we could use regular websites that we googled, in college we have to use real credible sources. One Search has been a lifesaver when it comes to doing research for each of my classes. One search has a plethora of resources, and information on various topics, it is just difficult to find the hidden gems within
