Throughout the course of our class we had multiple assignments, yet each one was geared toward a different audience. For example, we had to imagine that were were writing a literature review for our department’s undergraduate research journal. The primary readership would be fellow undergraduates in my major who are interested in my topic. With that being said, I didn’t have to worry about trying to grab the reader’s attention in the beginning because I knew they were already interested. My tone in the project was professional and researched based. I …show more content…
In this project I knew I had to be more general and not go into depth. First, I had to think of an audience that could be affected by my topic and make them not only want to read my article, but also why they should. After deciding that I wanted to reach out people that would actually use my information I decided on focusing on jury duty. I choose jury duty because as citizens of the United States it is our obligation to serve when we are called, this also meant my audience was anyone and everyone. Therefore, I felt that it was important to inform people on facts instead of myths. In my mind I was picturing this project to be in a magazine or newspaper, so I made it look like it by having more columns and adding small pictures. My tone was more laid back and asking questions then follow up with the answer. I did this because I felt like it makes the reader want to keep reading or at least that’s what I find myself doing. In this project I also used studies that was in my literature review but in a very different way. For example, in my literature review I would have to start by talking about where and when the study took place, what the sample size was, methods that were used, and what the outcomes where. Yet, in project four I would mention the study once without and maybe talk about it for no more than a sentence after. I did this because my audience didn’t pick up the magazine or newspaper to read a scientific ten page paper, I didn’t want them to lose interest. I found project four to be more “free handed writing” which made it easier to
