Since a young age, I have always been praised for my intelligence. Up through junior year, writing has always come easily to me. I was never worried about not being able to write about a certain topic or efficiently get my point across. Once I started AP Senior English, I felt as if I could not write a single word without sounding illiterate. I started the year off writing with inadequacy. My first essay, the article critique, was choppy, needed lots of improvements, and quite possibly the worst essay I had ever written, which is why I decided to leave it out. Comparatively, my writing at the end of the semester demonstrates excellent flow and follows the purpose of the prompt. I am certain that I was able to make the transition to an acceptable writer because of my critical analysis essay, Siddhartha; I believe that for this reason, it is my best work. …show more content…
Within the essay, I was able to expound on the lesson’s that Siddhartha’s teachers taught him; from which, Hesse taught me. This essay stands out from to me because I learned how to effectively write and tie a conclusion back into the paper I had worked so hard on. In the beginning, I was lackadaisical with my writing; so much so that my MLA formatting was consistently incorrect. The emotion that came to me after reviewing my portfolio and noticing that was a pure disappointment. Conversely, I was impressed and surprised with how much my writing has evolved over the semester. It is obvious that the handwork that I put into writing my essay’s started to pay off, making my below average essays into ones of college

After entering the doorway, I dragged my feet across the floor and trudged through the empty hallway. As I peeked through each of the door windows, I saw nothing but dark, empty classrooms. It was not until I looked up that I noticed one lit room at the end of the hall.…

Writing an essay can be an infuriating, and irksome process. Suddenly, there seems to be a room to clean; cyberspace to wander; perpetual food to eat, and TV shows to occupy oneself with. Furthermore, it looks as if the power of the universe ceases the essay writing process, and the amount of alternative things to do become boundless. However, if the wordsmith knows the steps and understands what to do, writing can be quite simple. An essay is a type of writing that needs the writer to have a coherent, to the point, and characterized thesis statement; it needs an intelligible shift amidst the introduction, the body, and the conclusion.…
