My Reflection On A Group Project

Improved Essays
Following a considerable amount of thought and reflection concerning our project, I have recognized a number of ways in which both the group and I would have done things differently to improve the team’s outcome. After analyzing our work and speaking with Dr. Brown, we were able to make effective, efficient improvements from the first part of the project, thus improving the grades on the subsequent parts. Our low grade on Part I could be attributed to several issues. There was a degree of uncertainty as to what items we should have focused on and how we would address them. Time was not on our side as we did not start the project as early as we should have. If we had better time management, I believe that many of the issues in the first part …show more content…
Additionally, the paper required more depth and clarification, particularly regarding data. For example, specifically listing the other events as well as the number of times that functions were held at the PPL center could have provided better understanding for the reader. We should have taken the paper to the Academic Resource Center (ARC) in order to have it proof read, or at the very least, have had someone else look over the final version of the paper. I believe these costly mistakes could have been avoided simply by reviewing the …show more content…
For some, group projects will become common in the workplace. Participating in this type of project has made us realize what is needed to produce a quality document. Time management is crucial as this type of assignment requires enormous time and effort. There must be great attention to detail and all assertions must be backed up with appropriate data. All participants in the group assignment must cooperate and offer contributions toward the project. Finally, planning and developing a strategy for the entire group is

What I will take away from this experience is the importance of hands on learnings in the classroom. When students are actively involved in learning they more likely you are to retain more information on the topic. As a learner with a disability who struggled to learn through lecture and standardize test, and would have benefited from project approach being taught in the classroom it is a great way to get every student involved in learning. Given that we only did a mini version of the project and was an overall good experience it would have been better to experience the entire project from beginning to end. In my future classroom I do plan on using project approach although every investigation won’t include five hands on activities like we were required to do in our investigations with the…

The Inform 7 group project was a unique experience that exposed me to a new style of writing and programming, and group work. In order to successfully complete the project we had to communicate effectively, identify roles, and evaluate our work as a whole. The first step of our project was developing an idea. While developing the idea, all of us agreed that incorporating the Georgia Tech campus would make the game more relatable, engaging, and original. Our game’s basic theme is preventing a nuclear disaster at Georgia Tech, which is triggered by an old supercomputer in a mysterious tunnel under what is now The Clough Commons building.…

Overall the project went well. I enjoyed and appreciated the opportunity to complete this assignment. The process of interviewing people helped me to better understand friends I thought I already knew and to connect with them further. The process also allowed me to view what students can learn from a youth group but also how youth group teachings can lack. For example, in some situations, students may not be diving deep enough into the word to get a grasp of why values like cheating and lying can be unethical.…

All our group members were very proactive in communicating and working together for this project. One member created a format for the slides; a member kindly encouraged everyone to review the presentation rubric again; a member asked for a meeting before the presentation; a member reminded to wear professional attire for the presentations. However, there is one thing that we could have presented better in class if we conducted a rehearsal in advance, each of our group member prepared and presented relatively well by collaborating and dividing tasks equally to all. It seems to me that the shared value toward this project helped the g the.…

Within our group, we will take measures to ensure communication is the most important strategy behind our team project. Together we will use verbal communication as our most used interpersonal behaviour thus creating an environment where you can freely explain and initiate the next goal in our team face to face. The conflicts we face will be examined by each member within our group to create a well thought out plan on what is the better route to partake in that will make us most successful. Within the group, each member will consult one another in a group setting to ensure everyone is fully participative and involved with the next step and agrees with what will come next as a result and this will become a norm involved with our whole team.…

For the deliberative presentation, my group was assigned to address problem number two. My group went through all of the phases of the Phase Theory of Group Development. On our first day, we went through the orientation phase. Because our class is small we all knew each other but when we got together as a group for this assignment we tried to get to know each other and we discussed the issue of mental health in our university and what each one of us has observed. Overall that day was dedicated to understanding the topic that was assigned to us and getting to know each other.…

I was definitely not the best partner to work with this week as I was on vacation until Saturday morning and had little time on my computer. However, Yoselin was super understanding and we used text messaging to have the most efficient conversations about our project. As for group work, I am usually against the idea because I tend to be an introvert who wants to have all the control of what is being submitted. It is sometimes difficult for members of a group to have equal responsibilities.…

Looking back on the past couple weeks on the project, I think we have done some valuable work that will help us on making our final conclusions with this project. This task differed from the way I normally do things as like I said in the last journal, English is not usually a group project class. I have greatly improved my communication with the team which is the key to success when in a group. Even though we have done previous projects with each other, there is always room for improvement in communication which I think we have all worked well to get better at. Some difficulties that we as a group have faced would be mainly finding a day in common with each other, and the person we interview as sometimes our schedules are so busy with sports,…

“As important as the participation of group member is to group synergy, no one wants to encourage participation from members who are obnoxious or bent on sharing misinformation”. (J. Dan Rothwell, pp 276). 3 out of 5 group members were only focused on finishing their portion of the work, which complicated the whole project because it has to be done by the member who proposed the change. Low participation is the problem I felt that we encounter in this group project. I was fully motivated, and willing to spend more time with it; however, not all members were doing effective communications to follow through.…

Reflection Paper II Throughout my college experience here in the Carroll School of Management, group work and the ability to work well with others has been emphasized greatly. This makes sense, because in a professional environment, the ability to communicate, listen and contribute within a group leads to success and the achievement of goals. However, none have gone on as long as this project, making it a more realistic example of working on a team. Junior year of college is definitely a crazy time, as we are forced to balance heavy workloads with extracurriculars and recruiting.…
