The video on “How We Organize Knowledge” was not only interesting, but I also think that it is very useful knowledge to teaching in the classroom. I liked how it was focused on letting the student organize the knowledge for them self. As a teacher, we are to set up the “investigation” for them, but allow them to find the knowledge for themself. I think that the first teacher that had a very good point when they said that it was important for the student to make their own errors while experimenting so that they will learn from them. There were different methods of mnemonics that the chapter went over. There is the loci method, which can help by associating things to a familiar place in where they will be remembered by thinking of that place. Another is the acronym method, which makes a word in which each letter is associated to a different word. There is also chain mnemonics, where the first thing is associated to second thing and then the third and so on. The last one that was gone over is the keyword method which associates something with n image or concepts or words that sound the same. All of these methods deal with association, and as a future teacher, we want to have our students associate lessons to something that is meaningful to them so that they will remember it. One difficulty is making sure that the associates are useful to them because what may be an easy association to us, may not be for that particular
