In the book Kino wants to sell the pearl to get money for his wife so they can get married. Also he wants to sell it for Coyotito so he can go to school. Kino thinks if he buys his family, things their lives will be a lot happier and there would be no struggles in life for them. Kino goes through a lot for them, he killed a man that tried to attack him for the pearl. The pearl never really helped Kino and his family does better it just made things worse and by the end thing got so bad Coyotito died because hunters/trackers were trying to find them and get the pearl and because he didn't wanna throw it back into the gulf when his wife tried to know he has to go through the pain of his first son dying and you can't do anything to get Coyotito …show more content…
Kino wanted it all for himself and for his family, but his family was ready to get rid of it because they have seen everything it did. It destroyed his family's home and the peace they had before they found the pearl. If the pearl would never have had been found by Kino then they would just be the family there were before. I think Kino could have through away the pearl earlier in the story to have had a happier ending or could have taken the money that the pearl buyers were gonna give him for the pearl even though that's not even close to what it's
