The Leader, The Teacher & You Book Reflection
In this book, Mr. Lim Song Guan quoted that the highest aspiration of a good leader should be a good teacher. Therefore, in the first part he talks about his experience with the leaders he works with and the way they inspired him through their teachings.
He shared pointers on how a good leader should exhibit. Examples are walking the ground and appreciating the works that they produced by always providing positive comments first, then guide them the ways to improve on. Leaders should also have a mentality of willingness to learn from everything and the adaptiveness to changes. Do not fall into the trap of complacency and importantly is not to be afraid of new tasks

He wrote down concepts and frameworks of been a good leader to prevent these kind of failures. To summaries, as a leader you must be able to lead by examples. You must always show positivity and no resistance to any changes. Be truthful and receptive to any feedbacks from the ground. Be clear of the organization’s missions and visions in order to relate to the purpose so as to have a sense of belonging in the organization. Be responsible to any mistakes that you yourself made or even the mistakes made by your people. For example, if your juniors made a mistake due to human factors, as a leader although punishment must be given to the personnel but you should find out the root cause of the mistake as it could be a culture issue. The values of the personnel must be corrected in order to change the working culture to prevent any other similar occurrence.
