I decided to focus my reaction paper on the debate watched in Allgood Hall because it was a chance for young scholars to get together and discuss future social issues. Me and my peers all came together to watch the final election between Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton, and I must say it was interesting. When we first walked in the room we were asked different questions about the debate to spark up conversation. It was times where we agreed and disagreed but all in all it was an interesting night. I had never seen people my age get involved in politics because usually we consider it as “boring” and we feel like it doesn’t affect us. These student’s reactions, and opinions showed how interested they were in this debate. I remember when Obama …show more content…
He had made several speeches saying how he supports her and that she would be better off winning than Trump. Some people discussed how they felt Clinton was up to no good because she supported some of her husband bad ways when he was president. One of the professors talked about how Bill Clinton came up with a “3 strike” law and it basically stated that once you get locked up for a third time you must stay in jail. The arrest rates were high, more polices were on the streets, and a lot of money were going into creating more jails etc., when he was president. So, people were scared that she would make the same mistakes her husband did when he was elected. I remember one girl explaining that Trump needs to stay in business rather than politics because he doesn’t care about anyone but himself. His character throws me off because he has no respect for women because of his actions, He feels as though just because he is rich he can go around grabbing female’s vaginal parts and it not be a problem. When his wife gave a speech several people talked about how it bothered them because she practically plagiarized Michelle Obamas speech on national television. I think this election was an eye-opener for the public and most of them said it was their first year registering to

1969 was a year with a distinct economic, social, political, and intellectual atmosphere. After the end of World War II in 1945, the US experienced great economic prosperity lasting until the 1970s where sound employment could be obtained relatively easily for both skilled and unskilled work. The affluence this created also caused a baby boom where birth rates temporarily increased, and in 1969, many of those born in the baby boom now made up 8 million young adults going though college. This issue of LIFE Magazine from December 12, 1969 specifically emphasizes how these two features of society created a dominant middle-class culture increasingly fascinated by intellectual pursuits and purchasing luxury items, generational tensions between the…

As Americans we are bold, brave and unwilling to be pushed around. Our nation is a symbol of our story and how our determination made us the greatest country on the face of the earth. We are a family and just like every family we have our ups and downs and many times are separated by family disputes. Time after time just as soon as our nation begins to recover as a whole from one dramatic event, we open ourselves to be consumed by sectionalism and riots over events like the Fruitvale station shooting, the crisis in Ferguson and one of the most popular and still most debated events to this day the Trayvon Martin shooting.” Trayvon Martin a Seventeen year old boy was gunned down on the night of February 26, 2012 in Sanford Florida while walking…
