Bodily Movement:
The movement within the service was smoothly done. I will acknowledge that there was a great deal happening during the service that required movement. The children’s dance set the tone for the movement to come. I did appreciate that the Rev. Kletzing entered via the center aisle rather from somewhere in the back of the church. The passing of the peace is always a nice opportunity for the people to greet one another. I am of two minds though, is it a nice break for the parishioners partially through the service or a distraction from the tone of worship? I think I would lean toward the former. The same could be said about having the announcements twenty-eight minutes into the service. I suppose I am particularly interested

Kletzing’s sermon in terms of the dimensions of language used. I was frustrated as I tried to identify each of the dimensions and catalog his sermon as fitting one or another. It would be counterproductive to delineate my work here but nevertheless, I found all four dimensions well used here. His use of memorial language in particular seemed appropriate as he related the soldier’s story. “In worship, we must tell the story of God 's redemption, both in its grand sweep and in its specifics for us, over and over again.” (Rienstra, pg. 37). This seems appropriate as we here the power of God’s call even to those whom you might expect to have the greatest resistance. “Worship is not merely of looking backward toward the past but brings the truth of the past into the present”. (Rienstra, pg.38) This quote would seem to encapsulate what the pastor was able to do in his preaching on this particular Sunday …show more content…
While this is very common I think that references to God and the Holy Trinity, as gender neutral is more appropriate.

Jim Anderson was reminded of the world awaiting us. Gloria Evanson spoke of being in fellowship with God. Craig Pinley seemed to understand much of the thematic efforts of the service. A young man, Aaron wade described his experience as a personal communion with God. Overall the recurring words were joyful, creative, festive, comforting and affirming to repeat a

Therefore, if we as Christians claim that we love God, we need to reflect that in worshiping Him in truth and allow that worship to take us over, to humble us, and control the task of our discipleship. It’s like saying that as Christians, our lives needs to flow out of the worship experience that we participated in earlier on a sunday. This worship experience then influence our lives, forms and shapes us even outside the context of Christian…

Jonathan Edwards was a religious pioneer in his time. He fought in the name of God and believed that he was serving God with all intents of living a righteous life. He spoke among a congregation and gave sermons regarding religious guidelines and the way of prosperity. His tone in his sermon is very sporadic and tend to flux throughout the speech, making it rather confusing to get a general idea of whether or not he is angry or coming from a place of compassion. The way he gets his point across, using a range of tones, provides the audience with the appeal and idea he is trying to stress.…

I have always been a participant seeking my own personal theology with God, without paying attention to the pastor’s theology. Allen wrote, “theology affects the way preachers understand the Bible,” [1] which is something I understood, but when Allen wrote, “theology shapes how the preacher understands the congregation. ”[2] was a new revelation I received from this book. I had the mindset many preachers based their theology in one field. Allen hypothesized that many preachers do not have a singular theology, but many theologies interlocking together.…

As I sit in church every Sunday morning, I can’t help but notice my pastor’s actions. He walks up to the pulpit, lays his bottle of water and bible down, and begins his sermon. Throughout the sermon, he begins to lose his voice and gasps for air. He immediately grabs his water and begins to guzzle it. As the congregation waits patiently for the sermon to resume, I begin to reflect on the hard times my pastor has gone through to get here.…

Today’s preaching consists of devising new techniques or strategies for better communication, drawing crowds, and appealing to the post-modern society.
