After reflecting on what social media platform I use the most I would have to say that I spend most of my time on Facebook. While it is not the “in app” right now for my age group I still find myself using it more frequently than Instagram and Twitter. After considering the reasons why I appreciate Facebook over any other social media platform is because most of the content on Facebook is reality. Our society made it so easy for us “creep” on one another. Instead having a conversation with a person and truly trying get to know them we go right Facebook type in their name and are able to figure out everything we want to know about that person. Judging them right then and there on what they have portrayed their life to be. What if we as a society did not have this ability to find out everything about a person before even meeting them. Would we actually give them a fair chance? We would not have opinion on someone even before meeting them. Instead we would take the time to meet up with one another and ask questions about each other’s life. Instead our society take the easy way out and hides behind a …show more content…
Often people choose to post their highlights in life only. No one ever seems to shares the bad time or pictures that are a part of their life. Being able to select what others view you as, has many negative effects one being that’s not truly who you are. Our society shouldn’t be able to judge you for what you post on these platforms because they truly do not understand what is happening in your life. I looked at my Facebook account and it told me that I have nine hundred and thirty-six friends. I do not consider all of them to be my close friends they have no idea on what is truly happening in my life right now. Only my close friends do so therefore even what I am portraying on Facebook is false.
While I am in the habit of checking my social media accounts I think we have abused them. We no longer use them to effectively communicated with one another. Instead it is a place where we choose what message we want to send. Facebook was initially intended to help us communicate with one another we have now abused this platform. I think it is safe to say my generation has a lot to learn about communicating with one

Winter believes that even though there may be some positive aspects to Facebook like boosting self-esteem, specific uses of Facebook can also bring out the green monster within you and lower your self-esteem. Winter explains that if you use Facebook to post new articles, for games, or to talk to your friends you most likely will not experience any shift in moods. However, if you use Facebook to stalk your friends, compare lives, and obsess over the amount of likes per photo received, then you most likely have to break up with Facebook. Although Winter provides this information about Facebook bringing out the monster within us, she states that studies show that Instagram is the “evil friend” in social media. She further states the fact that Instagram stands for the three things that make people depressed on Facebook: liking photos, loitering around others profiles, and broadcasting to an audience.…
