Within this essay, I shall be discussing the rehearsal process of my final major performance of ‘Rent’ the Musical, written by Jonathan Larson. ‘Rent’ the Musical, is a successful, rock-influenced musical, where Larson explores and “follows a young group of young, East Village idealists over the course of a year” (Wollman, 2010, p. 170) set in the 1990’s. Where he was inspired by “Puccini’s La Bohéme…” (Wollman, 2010, p. 170) and “explored the travails of struggling artists, bohemians and drug users in contemporary New York” (Channel, 2014).
