There was so much information to absorb in this class and at the beginning I started out with nothing but back strikes against me. First it was my brother passed away, then I got the wrong book, and I was stressing about not wanting to drop this class. Here I am at week 6 and doing a reflection paper on what I learned and how I am going to apply it to my classroom. I made it all the way to this one important paper. The insights I have learned for this class is about a professional is that everything you do, say, and show are all related to professionalism. It is the knowing and the demonstrating the knowledge of the profession you are doing and the professional practice. I learned that you need to know the ethics, and how each child develops …show more content…
(Morrison, 2013). Doing the careers, it made me see that I do have a good job with children in the early childhood education because there is always a need there. The population is now going younger every day because Teens are having babies and they are having to get daycare for their children and it is increasing the need for child care and preschool. The profession growth and learning has changed because we are now required to have a degree to be a teacher at Head Start so they are giving us two years to get an Associate’s Degree and I see the need to have a degree because it is extremely important that we stay on top of the changes in today’s society. Knowing that you need to be forever learning because the learning never stops and the way children learn is so differently than the way we learned. The way it will help with the families and children is that it shows me the importance on being on their level and understanding their culture and their ways of …show more content…
We need to make sure that we are assessing, observing, and evaluating each child by watching and writing down what we see and observe. My goal is to be a teacher and need to learn how to keep my goals and plans for the children age appropriate for the child. I need to address to the parents that they are the child’s first teacher and that they need to be involved in the child’s education. I need to make sure to be up to date on the technology in the classroom because that can help with all the child’s domains. It will help with the children with a disability. The five things that I will keep in my library as a professional development will be 1). Developmentally Appropriate Practice Video, because I am always needing reminding of what developmentally practices are and that is the growth and the development of culturally, and the individual differences. 2). What is Early Head Start1/ https://eclkc.ohs.acf.hhs.gov/hslc/tta-system/ehsnrc. Knowing what and understanding of what Early Childhood Education is and what age groups it has in it and that is ages birth to four- year old’s. 3). NAEYC Early Childhood Career Forum http://careerforum.naeyc.org.jobs. I will keep this to help with job opportunities and to keep this to show what degree I need for any jobs that I am looking

A year and a half ago, I began my new career with the Division of Child Development in Early Education (DCDEE) within the health and human services department. By utilizing my first steps in obtaining my ultimate professional SMART goals, I planned by the age of 36 years of old, I would transition from my non-profit career within technical assistance and quality enhancement to consultation and enforcing minimum licensing standards at the DCDEE. I always envisioned my career ladder after my nine years service of technical assistance and training, to become a licensing consultant for the State of North Carolina.…

The final four Thursday evening SUST lectures were successful conclusions to a year of interesting, compelling and self-shaping lectures as a part of the SUST 1000/1001 classes. Again, the different backgrounds of the presenters, along with some dynamic presenting styles, kept the lectures engaging and relevant to a variety of aspects of the SUST program and my life. Despite the different topics, I found that all 4 lectures touched upon the idea of communities, as being central to sustainability, over current values of capitalism. The values of learning, sharing and growing (though not always economically) are imperative within and beyond the confines of communities when it comes to making significant change. As I near the end of this year of studies, I am leaving with this sense of the importance of community, of working together, as key when looking at a sustainable future.…

“Exploring my Image of the Child” As Dahlberg (1999) explains, understanding and defining the ideal child is a difficult task. In fact, each person has their own definition of the child based on their own worldviews, thus, perhaps making ‘the’ child an abstract concept. This paper is a personal reflection of my worldview, personal experiences, and understanding of a child. I also explore how my new perspective of early childhood education has added to my roles as a Child and Youth Care practitioner working with families and communities.…

Early years of childhood have widely been recognised as the most important years of learning and development. “Research have shown the importance of these years to learn and acquire new skills” (DEECD, 2010), which have assigned a great responsibility to the educators working with the young children. As an early childhood educator, I feel that it is my responsibility to provide the high quality learning environment for the young children to learn, acquire and develop social, emotional, academic and technological skills. The following paper contains my philosophy statement, which includes my values and professional knowledge in relation to children, teaching and learning in early childhood education. Connor defines philosophy as “it can be used…

Pursuing a career in early childhood and special education has been a plan of mine since I can remember being a very young girl, however, circumstances placed before me lead me to believe perhaps it wasn’t achievable for a young country girl named; Tiaira Marie Greene. My interests in early childhood education, mostly special education dates back to my middle-high school years when I began to learn that every person is different, learns differently in all areas of their learning of academics and scholastics capabilities. For whatever reason, I have always struggled to maintain good grades, because exams dropped my overall grades. Homework, projects, quizzes, class work, communication, group projects and collaboration showed successful knowledge…

Reflection When signing up to take the Final Project Course this fall I was extremely nervous and not excited to start. Walking into the first day of class and learning more about what the final project would entail, I did feel slightly better but still scared that it was going to be too overwhelming and hard to complete by myself. Luckily, the individual meetings and emails with my professor made everything much more clear and inviting. These final project meetings were very helpful in terms of receiving constructive criticism and then going back home to make changes to the paper.…
