Reflection Of My Writing As A Writer

Decent Essays
When writing a paper of any kind, I have learned that re-reading and revising your own paper is very important. After writing what some would consider your first draft, one should read and re-read their paper many times, this helps you determine whether or not it flows the way you what, and if you have all the information you would like to include. This process also helps the writer make sure before showing anyone what they have written, they have gotten everything they would like for the audience to know within that paper. The writer should re-read and revise their writing as many times as needed, until they are satisfied, I have learned if you as the writer are not convinced, and/or have learned from your own writing nor will your audience.

My mind feels like a 1000 piece puzzle missing a piece. I can’t simply find the right words to say to start this paper. It is always like this when freewriting; the idea of freewriting in and of itself frightens me. Never able to put the words in my head onto paper in a way that it can be read eloquently by others. My hands start to cramp automatically at the idea of freewriting.…

I am firm believer in making the best out of every situation. This semester has been a great learning experience that came with a lot of adjustments and surprises. I started off my semester to a rough start due to late registration which led me to playing catch-up in a lot of my courses. Even with these minor setback I still was able to achieve some of my goal that I made for the semester.…

Knowing I had to aim for a different audience this time around really affected my writing. When my tone for the original paper was rather informal and even somewhat fun, now I had to write for the APA, a group of people who take this line of work very seriously (as they should). Due to this, I gave my arguments a more serious tone, and I even expanded my vocabulary a bit to give a good impression. If I want the APA to listen to me, I should write in a tone they would use. I was careful about the sources I used for this.…

Getting started writing a paper is a tough task! In my effort to complete writing assignments, my first struggle is often with selecting a topic. I actually prefer to be assigned a topic rather than being allowed the freedom to choose. The world is unfathomably big and tremendously fascinating, I can literally spend days or possibly weeks trying to select a topic. I am exhausted before I even begin my research.…

Revising is a key part to a successful paper. This is another mistake I made while inventing my papers. I did not revise enough. For example, in my Week 4 Essay, I said, “to hear the it”. This flaw could have been easily avoided with more revising.…

Therefore, I have grown accustomed to critiquing while trying to develop the content of my papers. Although proper grammar and effective word choice are crucial to writing a cohesive piece, worrying about it early made the process slow and exhausting. I procrastinated to avoid the hours of sitting in front of my screen, rephrasing the same sentence until I was satisfied before starting the process over again with the next sentence. However, in this chapter, I learned that I could be patient with myself during this early stage. Drafting could be the initial phase of the process, or it could be preliminary to the actual writing.…

I am positive of this.”…

If I were to go back and revise my paper I would try to add to my analysis in the third and fourth paragraphs. I would also consider doing some reorganization within those two paragraphs. I would also take more time to go back and look at my punctuation. I would also seek out someone to read over my essay and give me feedback or suggestions for corrects I might have missed. When I revise my writing I dedicate most of my time to looking at sentence structure and seeing if it makes sense.…

Throughout this semester I have changed my composing process, worked with multiple different writing prompts, and have completed various activities, such as working in groups and participating in discussions with my peers. This has helped me to understand and learn how to use my peers and other resources to aid me with our topics and improve our writings. I have also had to read from the book “Everyone’s an Author”, which was made by Andrea Lunsford, Michal Brody, Lisa Ede, Beverly J. Moss, Carole Clark Papper, and Keith Walters. This has all come to help improve my writing abilities and prepare me for the next course on argumentative writing.…
