Reflection Of My Experience On Leadership In Our University

Register to read the introduction… We had a reportorial essay about leadership. The goal was to do an interview with an AUI student who is at the same time, a leader. Then, see a video about a successful CEO who made a speech in the last conference about leadership in our university. After that, discuss the similarities and differences. I learned a lot from this experience, and I got motivated to participate in the Leadership Development Institute in our university to learn more skills and know how to apply them in the reality. Both of leaders insisted on having the ability to listen skill in order to be a great leader. The AUI student named Taha mentions: “a good leader must have the ability to listen and he should not think that by being a leader, a person is more powerful than his followers.” The CEO states:” There has to be two way communication.” From this, we can conclude that listening to others has a huge value. …show more content…
As mentioned above, a good leader has to have many skills in order to lead his followers in an effective way. H.Zenger, R.Folkman, and K.Edinger focused on the importance of collaboration in leadership. They declare:” Inspirational leaders always talk of current and past success coming from the efforts of the team, not from the handiwork of any one person (especially themselves). When speaking of the future, these leaders invariably talk of the need for expanding collaboration and teamwork, realizing that future achievements will require extreme amounts of collaboration.”(172).
