Last year I took an AP English class at Buchtel CLC and I more or less learned the basics of how to write essays. It was also all independent work, with this in mind; it helped me for this English class. That AP course gave me a process of writing essays which was the same one that you gave us. When I begin to write, I brainstorm topics to talk about and then I do research on each one of those topics. After I do my research, I pick my topic then write down three points to talk about that connects to that one topic. Lastly, I gather my resources, read through them, pick up some applicable quotes and begin writing. I never thought writing was difficult, just challenging. A person has to come up with everything on their own and make sense of it, which is not always the easiest mission to do. I learned to not write in a five-paragraph essay format, and it shocked me that one could write in that format without actually writing five paragraphs. That was a tough transition for me because that is what I was trained in for years and to change that I had to constantly remind myself that all the points had to relate to the one big topic that was the focus of the paper. I, in addition, learned more about myself in this course. I came to terms that I rely on description and examples that are given to me; I like rules that I set for myself to begin and finish an assignment, I do not try to stray away from them because then I become lost and very stressed
