On Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at approximately 3:15, I was informed by my administrator; Mrs. Noel, that there was a sexual assault allegation lodged against me. My initial reaction; undoubtedly was one of great concern on many levels. My concern did not lie within the confines of the allegation; but that my character had been assassinate and I was now the victim of hainees circumstances. That following Wednesday morning I addressed my principal with my concerns and indicated I wanted the opportunity to speak to someone in Employee Relations. This is where my situation escalated from concern, to disappoint and despair. I spoke to Mrs. Arnette, who indicated she had not concluded her investigation; therefore was not in a position to meet with me as I requested for Wednesday, September …show more content…
She indicated the earliest she would be able to meet was possibly Thursday. I then informed her how this entire situation caused me a great deal of distress and I was not in a position to perform my duties; therefore needing to take the day off. I then asked about paid administrative leave of absence. Mrs. Arneetee indicated this was not a possibility; which I could not clearly understand. I then asked if I could speak to her supervisor, and then from my perspective, Mrs. Arneetee discontinued the conversation by abruptly hanging up. I immediately called her back and the secretary indicated she was in a meeting. I then spoke to my principal Mr. Drye, and informed him of my decision to go to Employee Relations and speak to someone directly. Unfortunately, when I arrived at Employee Relations no one was available to meet with me; so I left my concerns with the secretary; who indicated Mrs. Johnson would be giving me a call back. I heard from Mrs. Johnson @4: 30; when I attempted to return her call shortly thereafter; I was informed by her secretary that she had already

When a Fort Osage school principal went above your authority and approached a board member to discuss the salary of another staff member, she crossed the line completely. Reading, writing, speaking, and various other forms of communication have been essential to the evolution of human beings. Our species’ dominance today was preconditioned by communication, allowing us to excel in fields such as abstract thought, logic, and rationality. Thousands of years have elapsed since the alphabet, one of our most essential mediums of communication, was invented. This invention altered the methods in which we structure our thoughts and ideas, thus domesticating the human species into the cooperative junction it is today. However, this was only an invention, not a natural occurrence imbedded into the human intellect.…

Upon completing interview one and two, I surmise that interviewing is not as easy as it appears. Whether it be asking questions to a stranger, friend, or a family member, there are still levels of discomfort because my role changes. I am no longer their friend who can talk in a causal manner, I have to contemplate and decide what questions to ask and how to prevent boundary violations. With friends and family, I often do not perceive this and conversations are more lenient. It was difficult to provide reflection without sounding hypercritical or appearing apathetic.…

The first few weeks of the semester really made me realize how terrible of a communicator, I am; in a communication class perspective. Throughout my week, I would write in my Interpersonal Communication Journal about all of the different types of conversations I came across. Not one conversation was the same. They were all about different topics. Each journal entry I would write, however, had all different aspects to them.…

Areas that I feel like I have improved in during this communications 101 course is becoming more confident in speaking in front of a small crowd, learning how to write speeches, and learning how to research and prepare for speeches. Everyone 's fear is public speaking. I avoided taking this class for the longest time just because I did not want to have to take a class where its entirety was just about speaking in front of people and doing a handful of speeches being my primary grade. I needed to take this class for when I transfer over to Arizona State University in the fall of 2017 so getting this class out of the way now at the University of Nevada was more of an ideal plan rather than taking it at ASU. This class is a core pre-requisite…

Interpersonal communication is the process of sending and receiving information between two or more people. It is a person-to-person contact, it includes everyday exchange that may be formal or informal and can take place anywhere by means of words, sounds, facial expression, gestures and postures. Two significant learning points for me during this course was in module 3, using the I-language instead of you-language which gives power over our thoughts, feelings and emotions to others. To take responsibility for your own feelings, rely on I language rather than you language. I language owns thoughts and feelings and does not blame them on others (Wood 125).…

I took two classes for the summer of 2016, but the Interpersonal Communication class had me worried the most. I had a training with the army, and that required me to absence from school for two weeks. Unlike my other class, I didn’t have a chance to work ahead of the class with the instructor for the two weeks that I would be missing. Therefore, I was worried that I wouldn’t catch up with my classmates and end up failing the class. However, Ms. Anna was generous and extended the assignment due date for me; she even gave me an extra-credit assignment to replace the credits that I missed during my two weeks in training.…

Communication is very important in human civilization history and it has been developed until today so that people will know the best and efficient way to deliver messages to the audience. Generally, people used to think that speaking is the best way to communicate to other people, however for me, speaking is not the only best way to communicate to the people because we can send our ideas or message to other people by using many different ways. In this class, I was taught to have good skills of communication and develop them into four aspects, which are writing, oral, visual, and electronic. All of these aspects have been basic principles of this foundation communication course. I believe that all of my assignments required to use the application…
