The book I am Malala: The Girl Who Stood up for Education and was Shot by the Taliban by Malala Yousafzai was a very inspiring and eye opening book for me. While reading I am Malala I was surprised by many aspects of the daily struggles that she had to face. Growing up in the middle of United States there is no many struggle for basic rights, especially those dealing with education. The most surprising aspects of Malala and her book was her birth story, balance in life, and optimism for her ideals.
In the very opening scenes of the book, the daily struggle that she will have to face just to live becomes very apparent. She was born to struggling family that did not have access to the proper medical treatment that an infant and mother should …show more content…
There were many women that were older than Malala that could have stepped up and leaded the charge for the equal rights of women and men. Although she was leading the charge for equality of a whole group, she is still a teenager that wants to just hang out and do normal teenage things in addition of her work to equal rights. It was refreshing when we learned that she herself, had made mistakes and went down wrong paths which eventually helped her learn. I am inspired about how she can balance the challenges of her uniquely amazing works and just trying to live the normal life. Throughout the whole book it surprised how much she stayed true to where she came from. It would have probably been a lot easier for her to take all the press and fame that she was receiving and make money from it, but instead all the fame was used in the proper way and she stayed true and kind to all people. She was especially loyal to her father who was her largest supporter, many times there are a lot of parents that would not support the radical works when it was as dangerous as challenging the ideals of the national terrorist rule. For my family, I feel supported and inspired from both of my parents which have helped me reach many accomplishments in my life. She was shot the head and stayed true to what she wanted. She truly took one for the team and use the press to spread her cause, it a humble way, not a “Look at me” attitude. Throughout the whole time she stayed hopeful that Pakistan will return to their innocence and peacefulness. She wants to lead her home country back She has so much pride and hope for the countries that she believes that she will be able to easily become the Prime Minister of Pakistan. That fact that she is so optimistic about the country and her future of being a successful Prime Minister is not only surprising but inspiring.
