Reflection Of Free-Writing: My Role As A Writer

First, I intend on first examining my role as a writer, for I believe the aspects of my writing has changed tremendously since the beginning of this course. Since taking this course, my usage of the rhetorical devise has improved. I better understand how to use each rhetorical device effectively when writing. Prior to this course, I had a limited understanding of ethos, pathos, and logos. Now I understand each of them and how their importance in developing a well-developed analysis or argument. The structure of my writing has also improved; thus, I now utilize pre-writing methods better than previously when writing. This assignment was the most challenging because it required extensive research as oppose to the other two papers. However, upon completing this assignment, I had a better understanding on how to use scholarly sources in my writing. Additionally, the topic I chose for this assignment was very controversial, so I had to be sensitive and conscious when structuring my argument. Above all, I enjoyed writing the Researched Persuasive Letter the most because it was a difficult assignment and it forced me to go more in depth with my writing process. I felt very strongly towards my topic, which was proposing that oral contraception should be made over the counter or pharmacy access thus providing easier accessibility to women. I think every woman should have access to affordable contraception, and this assignment allowed me to research a topic that I am passionate about. For example, this course introduced me to The Rhetoric Triangle, for before this course I had no previous knowledge regarding the rhetoric triangle or rhetorical devices. The Rhetorical Triangle helped me interpret the different works that we read in class. Also I used the concept of the rhetorical triangle in my writing, and this rhetorical device allowed me to identify my audience and my role as a rhetor; thus, allowing me to effectively communicate to my audience through my text.
