Cultural Awareness In Group Meetings

In the past few weeks, Caitlin, Chi Ching, Majed and I worked together on our group project. Our group is a multi-cultural group, Caitlin, Chi Ching and I are from Malaysia, while Majed is from Saudi Arabia. We learned about Cultural Awareness in this group. However, there are still some problems in our groups. I felt annoyed sometimes because one of our teammates, Majed always absent from class. This means he will be absent from the meeting. This will slow down our group progress. When four of us were conducting our project, the questions of how to organize our meeting, how to relate our topic and how to make our presentation successful and interesting.

All of us address the issue, ranging from use certain choice of communication, such as email versus telephone, to how team meeting will be run and what we can do when conflict arises. At this stage, we know how to solve and compromise for the problem than arguing without an end.

Next was Performing, our team rapport is very good during the presentation, we help each other as always and four of us coordinate effectively. On the other hand, our group was well in interact with the audience during the presentation to make the presentation more interesting and we provide a token of appreciation to our audience.

Lastly, it will move into the adjourning stage, if a group has fulfilled its goals and objectives, This may happen rather quickly for a project-specific team. At this stage it is important to achieve closure for our group on a positive note. Our group members may feel a sense of loss and their motivation may decline when the group's work comes to an end. It is important to recognize our group members for their accomplishments and celebrate the group's overall success. Our Members may feel some uncertainty or insecurity about the future but life is full of
