• The speakers for the guest presentation were Adrian Moreno and Bryce Gerick who were from the company CenterPoint Energy. Both speakers play a tremendous role within CenterPoint Energy, Adrian Moreno is the Service Area Manager and Bryce Gerick is the Associate Service Consultant. CenterPoint Energy’s main focuses includes electric transmission and distribution, natural gas distribution, and natural gas sales and services. They have been serving the community for over 150 years, have more than 7,000 employees, and they have a history filled with accomplishments. Moreno’s and Mr. Gerick’s points entirely due to the simple reason that everything he said and referred to made an outstanding amount of sense. One point I agreed on most of all would be one of the largest points discussed by Mr. Gerick. Which dealt with ethics and compliance. He stressed how much this dictated their company and allowed them to provide great and reliable service. I agree with the importance of ethics and compliance tremendously, and I find it interesting how such a large company who continues to grow has meanwhile been consistently sticking to its values. This guest presentation was very valuable and a very enjoyable experience as I furthered my knowledge and potential with simple but extremely important points made by both speakers.
• One thing that caught me by surprise was how helpful and giving CenterPoint Energy has been. They worked during the Hurricane Harvey repairing and redirecting energy sources for the community. The worked nonstop and worked in dangerous situations for the community. They have also gave a large amount of donations to charity that will also help the community. I was surprised because many companies do not give back to their community or actually help during a natural disaster. CenterPoint Energy is an excellent company and have definitely peaked my
