Reflection Of Cells And My Experience In The Marine Science Class

When I first started this internship at the beginning of the semester, I had an image in my mind of how things would be like. I had ideas in my head about which classes I would be strongest in and struggle. I quickly learned that things don’t always go they way we think. As a teacher we have to learn to adapt. I thought my strongest class to teach would be the marine science class, sine it’s my undergrad degree, but I have grown to really enjoy teaching Biology. I am learning a lot about myself and who I am as a teacher.
After analyzing the pre and post assessment, the data shows that the students did their best on Learning Goal 4 which included knowing the different organelles and their functions. It consisted of 33 questions to show their growth. Though it may not have had the highest percentage on the post-assessment for the different Learning Goals it definitely showed the most growth. There was more opportunities overall for the students to show that they understood.

There was an increase of 66.51 percent. Between the pre and post assessment I supplied the students with multiple activities to supply them with practice. They had worksheets that had them practice labeling the different organelles and then matching them with their functions. Once they had the content and practice that they needed, they were then asked to apply it to a Cell Analogy Project. The students were able to take the content and apply it in a way that would help them remember it. I think this was what made this Learning Goal the most successful. The students did not just learn the content, but were able to apply it in a way that would help them be

An internship is normally a work task a student completes after a series of classes to gain a degree in a particular field they think they’ll love, whether they still love it after they’ve completed that journey is based upon a multitude of criteria. Luckily, I have found that I quite enjoy fashion and working in retail throughout this internship at Dress Barn. Occasionally students find that what they thought they were getting into, is actually completely different than what they expected. Especially when reading about a profession on paper versus seeing it up closer in real life. When I started college, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to study or achieve with my life.…

At the beginning of the semester while at my field placement, I noticed several staff members who appeared burnt out. Since that time, I set a personal goal to aim to lift the spirits of the staff members within the agency. I decorated the bulletin boards around the office giving the staff positive messages to view throughout their day. I also secretly left positive quote cards on their desks in efforts to further build morale around the office. While visiting the offices of the staff members, I have noticed the cards displayed on filing cabinets and taped to desk.…

I got the opportunity to do my internship at Houston Methodist West Hospital. I have been working for Methodist for the past 4 years in our registration department and out of those four years, I have had the opportunity to work with 3 different management teams. Although, each of my management teams delivered different methods on how to properly register a patient under 7 min or less, our goal we have always strived for was keeping our patient satisfaction scores at a high. Our organization implemented a strategy called AIDET, (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explain, and Thank you) to make this process work effectively. As our patient were very impressed with our ICARE values, (Integrity, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence)…

Marine biology has always been a passion of mine ever since I first heard about it when I was four years old. My family has a deep-running connection to the ocean so when they realized how interested I was in science, they suggested marine biology. I loved the concept of studying unknown creatures that sit miles below the surface of our planet that no human has ever seen. I’ve read many textbooks and field guides over the years, which started as an amusing pastime. However, the more I read, the more I became completely and utterly engrossed in the subject which eventually shaped me into what I am today.…

During my internship experience, I learned a lot of things that I thought I knew but are misconstrued on. With that being said, I know everything must be done in decent order or this will cause chaos and lead to confusion. I also learned everything takes patience and is very time- consuming. I became frustrated, so many times and just wanted to give up, but I had to remind myself that hard times are going to come and everything is going to work out. Many times I sat on my bed crying because it seems like everything piled on me at one time.…

I started out my college career as a psychology major, but I plan to graduate with an education degree, and fulfill my dream of teaching children. Throughout this semester I have learned many different things about teaching that will stick with me my entire career. I learned about the teaching and learning process through the course work I was given, the time I spent in the classroom teaching lessons, as well as the times that I sat back and just observed the preschool and elementary classrooms.…
